Thanks for the support everyone. By now I've heard back from enough government agencies to where I can confidently declare that I have successfully defied the Have You Told Anyone Else? trope. This is still far from over though.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

Glad to hear things are working a bit better for you.

If my calculations are even remotely correct (because math, science, and various measurement systems), Nerea's defensive shield capabilities are horrifically broken due to living at the bottom of the ocean: I'm fairly sure she could tank a tsunami. surprised

Also, being literal about n-times stronger/faster/whatever than a human gets really silly, really fast. Needless to say, a sufficiently powerful oni could theoretically achieve escape velocity by jumping. *disgruntled author noises*

Aggggghh

Sorry for the wait. Been stuck in a place where writing is slow and unsatisfying, and then I get drowsy. I'll get there.

I can't remember if I ever asked, is Whisper wearing horseshoes?

Again, sorry for the wait. I think finals season for a class I'm not proficient at with an instructor whose methods don't jive with me is affecting my capacity for writing much of anything. Alas, that's unlikely to get any better within the month.

I've written the battle between the horses and the moufreta. Is Iolana sticking around to watch from afar? I could post the battle all at once, or I could post one round at a time to give Iolana a chance to react and decide whether or not to intervene. Which should I do?

Iolana is there to sow chaos. She feeds on it. She'll actively participate in the battle by messing up with both parties - disrupting the mustangs' formation if possible (defensive formation is a form of order, she doesn't like that), randomly grabbing moufretas to toss them away, etc.

One round at a time, Miss. I thought this is the default option. A character doesn't leave the scene unless explicitly noted (here or in the thread itself).

I was confused, I thought Iolana was leaving entirely.

I'm planning one of my previous characters, the witch-thief Claire, return. This time, in David's truck.

To which, is their much of the way of things to rummage through in the back of the truck? I'm planning on having her there as it is covered by canvas, out-of-sight of the others for the time being.

As for how she evaded sensors... magic? Luck? I dunno. But she does smell of an elven vampire goddess and the undead (but isn't one herself) so she should be noticed quite easily by Arnaya.

[up] It wouldn't be too much trouble for me to retcon in an approaching (un?)life signature on the Hummingbird sensors and then have Arnaya mistake her for either David and Joseph's thief or that thief's ally.

By the way, the spaceship's teleporter doesn't flash, and it would never make the monumental mistake of putting the group down with everyone facing a cliff face. The program automatically orients the group as a whole so that the most possible people have their backs to whatever wall is next to the destination.

I'm definitely going to be milking Our Vampires Are Different for all its worth in my setting. Much the same as "vampire" gets slapped on anything remotely fitting the bill, I've got several varieties of blood-drinkers, the most of which are alive.

There are small wyverns that look like the Medieval vampire, a ruddy corpse-like beast. They're more than susceptible to conventional weaponry.

Then there are the Classical Movie Vampire-looking branch of elves. Superhuman, weakened (but not killed) by the sun, frequently have OCD and motion sickness. Mortal, but have accelerated healing and durability, making them seem immortal. Oh, and many joined the genocidal "Light" faction during the elven civil war, earning their goddess Aria's disapproval.

Then there are the legendary monstrous vampires, lupine beasts with high stats around the board and stupidly fast regeneration.

There are also artificially made human vampires, which can go toe-to-claw with supernatural nasties, like the above lupine vampires. But... they have a bunch of common weaknesses hardcoded into each and everyone of them, just in case one goes rogue.

@Miss, are moufretas free-to-use NP Cs? Can I take control of some of them for my turn?

[up]Sure, Why Not? — earlier I asked if anyone else wanted to control them, but when I got no answer I introduced them anyway. Heck, if you think you need a few more to show up late for the party (since I already sent four plummeting inspired by what happened in this post), I bet that'll really make Iolana happy. And I still have plenty of Red Shirts in the herd of horses...

A fair bit. The rear of the truck has been converted into a small living space, akin to this but with more space (especially vertically and lengthwise) and a lot less contemporary.

There's a small bed with a trunk at the foot of it, containing 'emergency clothes' (mostly David's stuff), and opposite that a wide chest of drawers. There's one with medical supplies, one with some non-perishables, a few locked drawers containing ammunition and a holstered small firearm or two, a drawer with bags of plants and tinctures, and uh... maybe some other things. I haven't quite worked it all out and I'm not in a free enough space creatively to do it just now.

By the way, the spaceship's teleporter doesn't flash, and it would never make the monumental mistake of putting the group down with everyone facing a cliff face. The program automatically orients the group as a whole so that the most possible people have their backs to whatever wall is next to the destination.

I must have gotten it mixed up with the moonstone teleportation. I can go ahead and edit that.

Remember the carnivorous blob "finger" that the Web of Friendship manhandled with the tractor beam? Would the greater intelligence controlling it be honked off enough to investigate the disturbance? What would happen if that critter encountered the elemental?

I think I said it before, but 'intelligence' might be a strong word for the way the creature operates. The limbs are disposable, so it probably wouldn't investigate. If one of its parts encounters the elemental and said elemental is meaty, it would try to consume it. Otherwise a whole lot of nothing.

All that said, I made the creature up purely for this thread, so I wouldn't be bothered if someone else wants to take it over or add to/change it based on their own ideas. I'm not in much of a state to do either right now.

I apologize for going in a light and silly direction, but I wanted to see how the others reacted to spontaneity.

Which way did Cody run? Back towards the church, or the other way in Krakka'a's general direction? Where is Krakka'a now?

Back towards the church. I should have waited for Will's response first and now it's going to be all out of order.
