@Will, @Masterofchaos: Wait, what? I don't think it's been anywhere close to fifteen minutes for Varla and company yet. Did your calculations take into account that Varla didn't stop what she was doing to talk? Or that her movements are always at or close to combat speed even with cracked bones? Pain by itself doesn't bother Varla.
Speaking of time, nobody's posted for the group hiding behind the hill getting ready to go into the Ghost Town in a long time. Can we do a time-skip for that group to catch it up and get the characters inside via Shale's or somebody's idea working offscreen?

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.@Mroh: Judging by the lack of bold in Alexa's voice, am I correct in assuming she's switched it from monstrous back to human?
@apocalemur: Just how far away is Krakka'a from Cody's Cove? Depending on the distance and whether or not Alexa is still rumbling, even if Krakka'a is too far away for his scream to be heard, Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara might be able to feel through the ground the faint aftershock of his splat.

I'm thinking that Not!Joseph will try—but quickly fail—to stop his gem from leaving his hand, and that the act might buy him a split second of early gem usage when he gets his hands on Mequoql's gem. If he uses her gem to transport elsewhere, would Mequoql's sleep command still hit because her intent was directed at them, or is there any sort of presence/aiming factor involved?
They'll turn your world aroundIt is. I've got a post in progress but I'm in class atm. Hopefully it will be done by tonight.
They'll turn your world aroundOkay, so Alexa does have a Game Face but she doesn't show it too much unless she really wants to intimidate somebody. Most people don't know she has one until they see her show it to somebody else.
My work schedule is still up in the air. Today I got the news that tomorrow and the day after that they're going to need me to come into work super-early. I'm a night owl. I can go to bed early easily, but I don't know if I'll successfully fall asleep early. This Is Gonna Suck. Good thing I wrote myself a buffer for the Adventure thread.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.Sorry, writing is slow-going. Going to have to sleep before this one is finished.

Spiral out, keep going.Well, just got back from Avengers: Endgame - epic movie, thoroughly awesome. Can't wait 'til it comes out on Blu-Ray so I can watch it again. It cost me $87 just for tickets for me and my kids to go and watch it, so I'm not going to be watching it in the theatres again.
Perhaps later on today (it's 25 past 1 in the morning), I'll have the energy, time and mental faculties for writing some posts in the thread.
"Night", all.

The spirit was willing but the flesh was weak. I hurt my legs hefting boxes (the store is expecting over nine thousand boxes and I didn't say that solely for the meme), so the manager excused me and sent me home early before I ran myself into the ground even further. There was more running around in there than a Doctor Who episode!

Two ways. First, I don't always post what I've got ready immediately after it's ready. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, and when I don't, I have a "ready" queue. Things usually don't linger in the "ready" queue (case in point I just added two entries from it to my latest post
). Second, I have "if-then" scenarios, the staler ones usually have to be deleted or recycled.
For an example of a fresh "if-then" scenario I'm drafting, I'm guessing that Krakka'a is about to bump into Akane and company. If that happens, based on what I've seen of him so far, I estimate chances are very high that he'll deem Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara to be inferior and say so/act on it, at which point he'll be Mugging the Monster again, so I'm drafting the Void Maidens' generalized reactions ahead of time (with more specific tweaking to be determined later).
For an example of a stale "if-then" I had to recycle, I wrote a draft of the mustang herd's potential sighting of a shriver as a setup for Non-Verbal Miscommunication between Whisper and the skvader. That scene was sitting around for a while, but I decided to ditch the shriver when I needed something to write for the multiple moufretas converging on the canyon.

I'm not entirely certain how to respond to the Viporises reaction to Alexa, as that reaction is pretty much new to me. I mean, I'm afraid I'll end up making it weird. It's part of the reason why I'm waiting for Akane's reaction. This isn't your fault, I just tend to be caught off guard when reactions I haven't seen before come up.

If you think it'll help, I can give you more details on why the Void Maidens responded the way they did.

That's the fun of the CDTs!
You get to encounter the unanticipated, leading to unplanned and potentially very interesting wait for it character development.
Viporises in general: I've previously mentioned in a few different places that a significant percentage of the Viporis population is aroused by bass rumbles. Part of that is physical — as living seismic detectors on a moon with small tectonic plates and volcanoes everywhere, their skeletons are set up to resonate from incoming infrasound and, coincidentally, bass. Part of that is cultural — when Viporises were coming up with the idea of theater (and later cinema), they couldn't use infrasound in their Horror genre performances or they'd lose the actors and audience via My Instincts Are Showing teleport-evacuation, so they used bass as a stand-in. When that combined with the trick of taking a date to a horror show for extra cuddles, repeated association of bass with cuddling stuck.
Void Maidens: Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara aren't the only Void Maidens. The Void Maidens are The Chosen Many in the sense that they, unlike the rest of the Viporis population, are capable of leaving their home moon. Viporis estrus is triggered by lowered seismic activity (among other things tied to the seasons), and since so many life-bearing planets are more seismically stable than their home moon, that makes off-world estrus that much more intense, hence the need for heat-control pills to prevent estrus from starting. Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara forgot to take their pills, so now their estrus has started. The pills aren't meant to stop estrus after it's already started, hence why those two Void Maidens' debut in the thread featured them loitering at the top of Mount Bifrons trying to use its seismic activity to cancel their estrus after one cycle.
Jen Jara specifically: Even if she wasn't in heat, she'd still have a strong platonic appreciation for an aesthetically awesome predator's build. She'd probably still quote The Tyger
in her head. But she forgot to take her heat-control pills and Alexa's rumbling is exacerbating the matter, hence the slip of the tongue. Jen Jara happens to be bicurious, and growing up in a galactic alliance desensitized her to the idea of sapient individuals from different species dating, but she still hasn't made up her mind on whether or not she thinks Alexa's body is too different from her own.
Syrni Sandra specifically: She is quite clueless to her own sexuality because she never felt the need to sit down and actively think about it. Up until she experienced it for herself, she thought Viporises getting aroused from bass was a ridiculous urban legend. She doesn't know that she's got bicurious tendencies too, she thinks she's gray-asexual. And she especially doesn't know about the cross-wired neurons in her brain getting sexual endorphins muddled up with combat endorphins and releasing both at the prospect of a friendly sparring session. Between Alexa's rumbling exacerbating Syrni Sandra's estrus and Alexa's words reminding Syrni Sandra of what Aynara and Arnaya would probably say in a similar situation, Syrni Sandra temporarily forgot her diplomatic training and kind-of-sort-of forgot that she was dealing with a stranger, hence her attempted indirect "impress me" challenge to Alexa.

@Will: Yeah, we're gonna speed run this cause I don't want Lerna to stay in that state for so long, poor baby.
Edit: GODDAMN IT NOT AGAIN.
