Okie-dokie-lokie, I got my Void Maiden Viporises into the Cody's Cove tunnel, at a distant length along it, where they can just barely hear random syllables of Alexa telling a story to Cody. If Alexa's ears are as keen as I'm guessing they are, and if she's listening closely, she'd be able to hear chitinous feet clicking against the stone floor. If I've guessed wrong, let me know and I'll make another post bringing the Void Maidens closer.

[up] Okay, is there a description of what they look like you've got somewhere so that my characters can react to what they look like when they spot them?

Good morning. This is the link to Syrni Sandra's and Jen Jara's introductory post, which contains their description. There's a briefer description of their appearances on the Adventure page, where I updated their locations to Cody's Cove — you'll find their entries underneath your characters' entries.

Or if you don't want to go fishing around through those links, I can describe them again here — Viporises are humanoid aliens. The two most obvious differences between them and humans are they have head-feathers for hair and their legs are covered in chitin. Syrni Sandra's head feathers are orange with yellow iridescence, her leg chitin is emerald-green with a missing chunk above her left knee shaped like an eight-pointed star and secured with quick-drying plaster. Jen Jara's head feathers and leg chitin are black, the feathers have indigo iridescence. Syrni Sandra's head-feathers are usually in some degree of poofed-up ruffling because her follicles are imperfectly aligned — it's the Viporis equivalent of curly hair. Jen Jara's head-feathers easily and often lie flat because her follicles are perfectly aligned — it's the Viporis equivalent of straight hair.

They're both wearing toga-like garments reinforced with magnetic clasps and wrapped differently than Greek togas. Two of the three bolts of cloth are looped to form a broad X across their chest and back, the third is wrapped horizontally around their hips and bellies. Syrni Sandra's clothes are gray, Jen Jara's clothes are black.

Viporises are marsupials, so Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara don't have visible breasts. Their mammary glands are hidden in their belly pouches instead of being on visible flesh-mounds on their chests. I already mentioned the heat sensors all over their skin that look like freckles.

They're wearing armored auto-tinting sunglasses perfectly sculpted to their faces in order to protect their dark-accustomed eyes. In an underground tunnel, assuming there aren't Hollywood Torches all over the place, the tinting might go away enough to reveal Jen Jara's cobalt blue eyes and Syrni Sandra's deep blue eyes a few shades lighter than cobalt. Viporises need to be more careful about protecting their eyes from light than the also-nocturnal Mayatans because the Mayatan home planet has twenty-four moons, whereas the Viporis home moon's plentiful active volcanoes often blot out the sun when it's not eclipsed by the gas giant that the moon orbits. But I digress.

If someone looks closely, they might notice the detail that Syrni Sandra's head-feathers are just a little bit shorter and broader than Jen Jara's head-feathers.

Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara started as Expies of Kim Possible and Shego, and I brought them into the Character Development Thread to triple-check to make sure they have enough originality to stand on their own.

By the way, how old is Cody? I know he's young, is he an obvious child or a teenager? Syrni Sandra and Jen Jara are in heat, but they won't touch Jail Bait.

The weekend has been a bit too eventful for me to write something, but I'm expecting changes next week that will lighten my schedule a bit. If not, then I'm afraid I'll bog the progress in the Forest and with the mustang herd down till next weekend.

Spiral out, keep going.

Feather hair and odd feet, huh? I might have a dust-covered Akane swing by and mistake the Void Maidens for tengu. Until she realizes they lack wings.

I might bring in another character, no promises, to intrude in the missing truck plot line. In the event that happens...

@Masterofchaos: Of Amy and Maya, who has pink hair and who has pink eyes?

I didn't get an answer for what body temperature Alexa is. Oh, and I forgot to mention Viporises have an extra thumb on each hand.

@Will: What are tengu? Is getting mistaken for them a good thing or a bad thing?

[up]While you're at it, I have a problem. I'm having a difficult time reconciling your description of Alexa's beast mode (like an oversized scaly greyhound) with my mental image of the hybrid offspring of a velociraptor and a xenomorph. Maybe a more detailed description of her would help?

[up] Well, she has a greyhound-shaped body with crocodile-type scutes (Scutes are a type of bony external plate.), and a tail also like a greyhound, except much longer, about 15 feet. Her underbelly is softer than the rest of her skin. She's quadripedal as well. She has the sharp pointed teeth typical of meat-eaters and her claws are like that of an iguana. Her head still mostly has the appearance of a human, except for the green eyes with slitted pupils and a snake-like tongue. Her hair is blonde and tied back in a ponytail and her eyebrows have a playful curve to them. Her normal human voice typically sounds melodic and sweet but her monster voice sounds like her melodic lilt mixed with the deep, unearthly rumble of an enormous creature. She can switch back and forth between those two voices at will. When she's totally out of control and savage, which is rare but still happens, the melodic part is gone and she cannot speak any words at all due to being savage. Her smell is excellent and has a greater sense of smell than a bloodhound. Her hearing range is greater than that of normal humans, she can hear sounds too high or too low for humans to hear. She can also see in the dark. I'm sorry, I'm not really good at designing monsters, but that's pretty much how I imagine her to look like in my story. I wanted her to have elements of gracefulness and power in the design, and I also wanted her to be still somewhat recognizable so that's what I came up with.

Syrni Sandra is the one with the poofed up feathers, correct? Just wanna make sure they responded correctly. And yes, I know they're Void Maiden Viporises, but I wanted to go the funny route with Cody.

@Miss Desperado: Tengu, crow-themed yokai. My spin on them is that they're humans with bird-like feet, wings, and feathers for hair/in the hair (which, now that I realize it, matches the page image). They also have a penchant for wearing masks.

In that case, the other big tip-off (besides the lack of wings) should be that Viporis feet have a very obvious heel and look nothing like bird feet. Structurally, the feet are shaped to work both as plantigrade and digitigrade, but only very relaxed Viporises will walk plantigrade — they spend most of their time digitigrade.

@Miss_Desperado, I apologize for the inconsistency, I forgot my character could see in the dark. ^.^;; I sort of worked it into the story by having her cover up that ability because she was a bit wary.
