Why does no one post when I wait for it, but when I'm not paying attention, suddenly the thread explodes?

How possible is it to join these threads once they've started? And how much does continuity matter?

That whole connecting thing is totally my fault... I love Continuity Porn.

Funny how I did it through two separate characters, though. Odd how that works. And hell, the Character Carnival is part of my story's canon, anyways, which is how it got brought into the Chatroom.

Thoughts on the next thread:

I say we nominate/elect/volunteer a few people to be DM-esque figures. They don't control the universe, they just know all the NP Cs, where the NP Cs are, and how the universe works. It makes for an internally consistent setting. Meanwhile, major plot points can be discussed among all the users, whether or not they're psuedo-D Ming.

Character Carnival is indirectly connected to my 'verse's canon, until I create a story to fill in that gap.

[up][up][up] You just have to drop in.

[up] That is my role for Carnival, and that was Crystal Galactica's role during Castle.

Is the Character Chatroom going to be tied too closely to these threads?

I ask because I'm posting there and nowhere else. I don't like forum RPs for reasons that were probably best summarized in one of Mr. AHR's posts some time back, and while the Chatroom generally avoids this sort of thing (and is much more "casual" overall), the other threads aren't really my cup of tea.

I do support the garden as a relaxation place, available for philosophy and describing flowers. Also, because I need to sharpen my writing skills.

This is this.

I like the garden, too. I want to learn how to write description.

Oh, Chihuahua- my name is not Galactica. Please stop calling me that.

[up] Sorry, it's just that since people don't remember how to use my whole name, I have the right to forget yours. tongue

I want the Chatroom and the Garden to nod at each other, but not be canon canon (as in, the canon isn't set).

Hence why I added a separate section for spinoffs on the Character Development Thread page.

And to be clear (apologies if this has been addressed so far, it's a long thread), where do the old hotel, outpost, hike, etc. threads fit into this, if anywhere?

From what I can understand, the threads can be fitted into two categories, continuity-wise- the main canon, and spinoffs. I have sorted the threads that I know of on the trope page.

There was also apparently a CDT called Picnic that Quon participated in, but it no longer exists. There may be more that no longer exist.

Overall, continuity has been rather lax up until recently, now that cross-thread Continuity Nods have taken place. So far, there haven't really been any issues... yet.

^ Your fault? I'm the guy who tried using time travel between the two threads.

I can definitely see how going too meta might cause problems. If you want me to stop it now, that's fine.

Just make sure that practically anything is Discontinuity among threads. Unless something related to a previous thread appear or a character members something from a previous thread, presume nothing is canon (IE: the tesseract may be something that only pertains to Carnival, and Carnival only.)

Basically, there is no official canon. Anything that resembles canon is unofficial. The only canon that exists that our characters keep crossing over into different single settings. That is all.

Speaking of which, should I bring in AnA now?

I kind of started it too, a few weeks ago in Chatroom. Sorry in advance for any issues that pop up.

^^^ Barring immediate intervention Helen is going to teleport the tessaract into an alternate dimension and then teleport anti-magic inside the tessaract. This will probably fuck things up horribly and I do not want to do it.

I'm trying to play Helen and Frederick as two people who are seriously averse to the idea of the entire setting collapsing. They're used to divine feats of creation and whatnot. The destruction of a setting seriously unnerves them, not only because their job is to protect people from paranormal threats, but also because the Damur kinda scares both of them. They do not trust him. At all.

That being said, I apologize if I'm kinda coming off as a dick, having my characters be so confrontational. tongue That's kinda why I want An A to come in about now, just so the "Frederick and Helen dick around" segment of this story can end.

Teleporting the tesseract would yield the same result then outright destroying it, which would poof everything in the Carnival out of existence. Meaning, the Retcon squad would have to interfere to prevent the collapse of several universes.

AnA enters from stage left.

[up][up]Eh, don't worry 'bout it. I'll admit, I did misread your intentions initially, so I likewise apologize if I came off too harshly. Nice to see someone who doesn't mind having their characters pick up some Heel Heat — I wish I'd done that myself a few times, especially with Alice and Isaac, but it's a tricky game there. The Damur's contempt for your characters remain, though — Damuros are self-righteous Knight Templars, after all.

Yeah. Helen and Frederick are good guys in their own world. Operative words being "their own world." They...didn't really get a very proper introduction to how this world works, and when their best source of information is a "self righteous Knight Templar"...

Also, this is too far ahead, but for Iceberg, should I bring out a de-powered Justin, Kevin, or Alexandra? Let say I have few realistic works compared with my sci-fi/fantasy ones.

Justin's from Kira Is Justice (but in the process of being originalized—one day, Kevin's from the Shounen Project, and Alexandra is from TAC, an idea that only exists as a few sheets of drawing and an archive in my head.

If you can't decide, randomize it and draw some cards. I know who I want to use next time- I originally had two choices, but now I need to use the other one, since Matthias is kicking over in Garden.

You could always wait a few posts, see who other people are using, and drop in a character who will either fit in well, or make a good foil to the general tone, depending on how you want to go.
