I think we should timeskip the restaurant unless the Combine are going to pay a visit. Not exactly the type of place Patterson and Bakersfield would be eating at, either.

Right... the multiple characters thing is kind of confusing.

I also kind of wish I'd brought in Omega on the anti-heist side, but I don't think I can follow two characters and plots at once and still be coherent. Though his random lightning outbursts might have made things fun. Ah well.

What was Ian doing last, again? [lol]

I think we probably should have had a very vague idea of "plot" (and no, the OP doesn't qualify) before we started, but so far it's not going so bad.

It's just going to be a really long thread...

Sorry I didn't show up earlier. I was at the county fair, and then I totally forgot about marching practice at 6 PM EST. I even forgot tie shoes. > _ <

I could've just shown up at tomorrow morning's practice instead, but I'd rather be a good little bando.

Wow a day went by with only 14 posts. So would anyone need a little break or time to catch up? How many people has dropped out anyway?

Help?.. please...

Can we timeskip to when the group that went cruising arrives back at the safehouse? I have a mega-post to make soon after.

Okay, catching up on a week of posts means almost an hour of reading. Wow.

I'll have to find a good place to stick Jonathan back in.

I need to get Ian and Alexia back in the game too.

I will force myself to write an excuse for Ian. I'll have to get a little meta though, but it won't affect the plot as a whole.

EDIT: Now, wild mass guess over my post. It's a new little arc that I'm replacing the ROSANNA one with.

I go to exercise and shower and this is what happens? Holy shit.

Don't worry about Prisha losing his hand. Marianne can put it back if he repents.

[up]'nother reason I'm glad I didn't sign up. By the time one of my characters geared up it'd be done.

This is how I think fight scenes should go in CDTs- ideally, authors should be trusted to know if a given attack would logically hit their character should they be on the receiving end of said attack. In other words, say if an author makes Bob attack Joe. Joe's author should be trusted to judge if the attack would logically hit or not.

In canon, Shinji would be unscathed right now thanks to his speed powers allowing him to back up before it hits.

EDIT: Also, my plan was for Shinji to chase Prisha into the warehouse, where Koboyashi's agents waited. There, Shinji would lock the entrances and kill the agents so that his son would be safe. That obviously did not go as planned.

In my universe the effect between magic and anti magic works on a scale of which side is stronger for the time. I didn't introduce that law in this thread due to it sounding too ass pullish though.

Help?.. please...

I sent this PM to InfiniteParagon, who was asking about starting a CDT thread, and I thought this would be goodly to share here:

Since a CDT doesn't have the proper 'pre-production' - fully making up the setting beforehand and people picking their roles - I suggest you start off with a bare description in the OP, of what place you want our characters to explore. Now you want to leave it rife with potential, and give people a clear-enough idea where they're at.

If it's a mountain-side resort, I'd describe evergreen trees in a cool, crisp atmosphere, and you'd have the general outline of the route to the building — gondolas up-way and staff driving snowplows about. Leave things sketchy for others to fill in the blanks with details (the Devil's in the details, it suggests vividness, and that's what truly makes a setting come alive in imagination). Otherwise if you're going overboard into info-dump territory, you'll overwhelm people.

As for the storyline - there isn't one at the start, except what your character's reasons are for visiting the place. Once, one of my characters (Quon) had received a mysterious letter beckoning her to the nightclub Moulin Rouge, and that's what kick-started things onward. Characters would meet and get acquainted with one another.. they would walk about the place finding things to do.

Once someone 'discovers' a major activity, like getting ready to hike the mountain, the posters will gravitate towards as bees do towards honey. Because they're excited for what's to come. That's the beginning of a 'storyline', coming from anticipation.

Two things I wish to mention; the first is that it's very natural for each of us to try transforming the story to our needs (that is, suited for the character as he just is.) I call this the Pygmalion tendency. Character A's used to fighting in a warzone (which tends to be the case), and A will like bringing in adversaries to show-off his powers. His poster turns the storyline, say, there are bad guys hiding in the mountain somewhere and we have to defeat their butts.

That's fine.. except, this doesn't help the character grow at all, he is only following what he's used to in his originating work. It's lazy writing, people grow complacent. The trick is to betray expectations and carry on with what must naturally follow, sparing little of what the character's poster is wont to do. You got to pull a few rugs.

Our characters, riding up the gondola, hear a story of a fire-breathing dragon at the top of the peak. Instead, along the way all the gondolas unexpectedly stop, and then one of these gondolas just so happens to malfunction and slide down the rope. It's a disaster of the environment/character, one which characters must bond and trust each other to help out of. Maybe everyone'll survive after the gondolas crash to the ground, and they're now trapped along the hill.

Unexpected, yet inevitable. In this manner the "logical followthrough" resembles Deconstruction. The characters are provoked into actively asserting themselves, and get more involved.

Um... some kind of random drama happened with Shinji, and Prisha got owned (wasn't paying attention). Then we had snipers, so Daisuke got shot. Joshua killed a sniper, got shot in the process. Cain got shot. Alice did some kind of weird magic shit... killed a sniper. The Lizard Folk killed two snipers. I think they're all dead—the snipers, I mean. Now Alice wants to evacuate the safehouse...
