If You Know What I Mean was proposed for a repair specifically because of pothole abuse.
Now all the potholes still say "if you know what I mean", and the only things that got replaced are the rare correct usages, quoting the Stock Phrase "if you know what I mean", or listing it as a trope.
And it was done without waiting for consensus.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.This. I think that, as a principle, the custom titles should never be used to completely change the wiki words. If I type something, I want this to be shown, even if corrected with accents, punctuation and non usual characters. Custom titles shouldn't be used as shorcuts.
I also agree* . The custom title should only be attached to the Wiki Word that is its closest non-punctuated equivalent.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I think the whole Nudge thing is silly. It got rid of a good name and creates one that doesn't make sense out of context, it doesn't affect the potholes, and it creates more problems.
Let's make a rule against using custom titles for renames, and let the hard-working Tropers move the links manually. Some of them even like doing it.
I think this deserves a crowner.

On the Nudge specific issue: Removing a line-of-dialogue title in favor of a trope name is the main thing, here. If the word 'nudge' does not fit the article text, fix the article. Here is the list of where the bad title was used: related
Titles with the word 'I' in them encourage people to use 'I', 'me', 'my', and the dreaded 'This Troper' in the text of examples.

Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
I don't think it's about first-person or sounding like a line of dialogue. We don't see people doing that with I Am Your Father or What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?. Conversely, we do see people doing it with potholes like Incredibly Lame Pun.
I think it has more to do with being a trope that applies to wiki page write-ups.
I agree that custom titles shouldn't be used for renames, for all the reasons already noted. I'm kinda ambivalent on the Nudge thing. I prefer the old name and think it's more intuitive and descriptive of what the trope is, but I'm not particularly attached to it either.
When we do a rename, we should just make the old name a redirect to the new one until the wiks are fixed.

Reaction Image RepositoryOn the Nudge thing, "If You Know What I Mean" is a common Stock Phrase used to invoke it.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Going to agree with Troacctid on the use of certain tropes. However, this is off-topic, and should be in another thread.
Regarding the original issue, the crowner's already showing large consensus against using custom titles that way, despite it only having been one day so far. I'm against it as well, as it's just too inconsistent to have the page URL and the trope name saying very different things.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)@FE: Right, discussion pertaining to the custom title Nudge goes in the TRS topic not here.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up....And the Crowner clearly says that people don't want to use custom titles for renames. It only been one day, but considering the number of votes it got in that time period, the outcome is obvious.
Unless you start cracking down on the You Know What I Mean links or red-link it, people will continue using it. It's a fun phrase.
So, uh, being that it appears people are strongly against using custom titles for renames, would it be possible to make "ItJustBugsMe" a simple redirect to Headscratchers? I've been seen a few where it's like "It Just Bugs Me! that Alice betrayed Bob at the end of the McGuffin story arc. It didn't seem like she had any good reason to, since even if she stayed on his side as a sixth ranger, she'd still have had the McGuffin to revive Carol, which was her motivation for the get-go."
They lost me. Forgot me. Made you from parts of me. If you're the One, my father's son, what am I supposed to be?
Crown Description:
Thoughts on whether the custom title request feature should be used to perform renames on existing tropes.

Someone tried to use it to rename Against My Religion to "It's Against My Religion" but it turns out replacing every instance of "It's Against My Religion" to "It's "It's Against My Religion"" looks really dumb, so it was changed back.
