I've been wondering about Guybrush in Tales Of Monkey Island Chapter 5. Lately, I wrote in the Our Zombies Are Different category that in Chapter 5, "Guybrush comes back as a zombie using the locket's Hour of Voodoo Power which, when almost used up, may cause Soul Pains and Resurrection Sickness, resulting in a dispossession; that power can be made permanent if he finds the Spirit Gum." Yet I don't know what category Zombie Guybrush falls in pre-Spirit Gum, since he doesn't have pains in his soul yet feels his body start to get "numb and tingly" before dispossession; and when he revives as a zombie Bugeye has a tendency to punch Guybrush's spirit out or, while Bugeye is in jail, Grindstump has a tendency to throw a cash register at Guybrush to crush him, unless our hero surrenders. I was thinking Power Degeneration (but Guybrush's body doesn't age or wither) or maybe Resurrection Sickness or I'm Having Soul Pains, but I don't know. Does Guybrush fall under either one or two out of these three categories?

It's been a while since I've played the game and I'm no zombie expert, but looking at the page Monkey Island zombies appear to be Revenants but with elements of Voodoo - especially the corpses falling apart aspect (and, y'know, the actual voodoo).

Pre-Spirt Gum Zombie Pirate Guybrush was merely Ghost Pirate Guybrush possessing his old corpse. He's still more ghost than zombie at that point.
