Changed without discussion: Lean And Mean

Go To

So, last week somebody changed the image for Lean and Mean. I didn't want to start an edit war, so I figured I'd bring it up here. For reference, here is the old image: [1] And the new one: [2]

Personally, I like the old one better. To me, Yzma is both more Obviously Evil and more exaggeratedly thin. If it weren't the page image for this trope I wouldn't even be sure that Psycho Mantis was supposed to be particularly thin. What do you guys think?

EDIT: gah, did not realize they would look like that on the forum.

That pic's got an obvious watermark/copyright/something in the corner, so it's not a viable option. The first thing that came to mind was the Scarecrow from Batman comics.

Hmm...while I don't like that they changed it without discussion, I do like that Psycho Mantis.

The logo's gotta go, though.

New one is cooler, old one is a better page image. However, I'd like to throw in another image.

You see, there is a practically unknown series of french comic books with average story, but a-goddamned-mazing art. I scanned a panel depicting a very evil and very slender character from the first book: Ta-daa!

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.

Yzma actually gives the air that she's evil/mean more then Psycho mantis...who looks like a solider.

As for the pastor, he I'm neutral on that, he looks more stern then mean, though.

Prefer Yzma of the three possibilities, she looks the leaner and meaner of the three.

Yzma is the best of these.

Cruella is a good example too, but she's already on Cruella to Animals.

Two Scarecrow pics: 1, 2

The Yzma pic is alright as well.

That first Scarecrow is also quite nice. Uh...mean. Well, you know what I mean.

[up][up][up] She can be on both, as long as it is a different image of her. She is already on both Cruella to Animals and Fur and Loathing.

EDIT: Another Disney-related example would be Dr. Facilier.

I vote for Yzma out of all the options so far. Certainly better than the Mantis, which doesn't really look that thin..

I like Facilier too, although [up][up] that particular shot of him isn't too great.

[up] I just suggested it to show what he looks like. I was not suggesting it necessarily as the actual page image.

A couple of Dr. Facilier options: 1, 2

[up] The first one is pretty good.

EDIT: Here it is resized, then cropped to within the TV Tropes width limit.

On second thought, one advantage the earlier Facilier one had over the one I just cropped is that the earlier Facilier one juxtaposed Facilier with the less-skinny other-characters; this was an aspect of the portrayal of Facilier pointed out in the examples list.

[up] It wouldn't look as good at wiki size though. They're too far apart. We'd have to cut the other people out of that image to make it work on the wiki. It's also too dark. This shows the trope well enough.

Or alternatively, resize it?

EDIT: And my point was not just about that particular image, but ones LIKE it.

Should the one on Living Shadow be replaced with the version of it I posted?

EDIT: Here is a resized version of the earlier Facilier one. It fits within the TV Tropes width limit without even needing to omit the cape, while the skull on his hat is still visible.
