Hello. I'm not sure if this issue has been addressed before but I would like to know why many Troper Tales pages are disappearing. Do certain topics really attract a multitude of trolls or is this a ploy to censor free thought simply because some people are offended? Personally, I am disheartened to know that a website which I love {or at least, LOVED}, seems to be so intent on censorship to the point of imposing draconian measures as to what is considered acceptable. Can someone please clear this up for me? Thanks.

We're not interested in being offensive for the sake of being offensive.

A while back, some Troper Tales pages became troll targets because of how ridiculous some of the content on them was. This prompted a thread where individual problem Troper Tales pages were discussed, which featured cuts for any pages that got a 3:1 consensus against, or 4:1 in the case where someone volunteered to clean the page up. (I should note here that major page changes like renames normally happen at a 2:1 consensus, so requiring 4:1 ensured that a true landslide was required to cut such a page.) The threads that were selected to be cut were generally troll targets, masturbatory*

(sometimes literally), or could not get non-RPG content (like many of the "Humans Are ______" tropes, which still accept that very narrow category of examples).

Things that

  • Are not a troll target
  • Could actually accept real-life examples
  • Are not just self-congratulation
  • Are not samples of short erotic fiction
should mostly still be around.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

To answer your question:

Yes, the ones being deleted are Wretched Hives filled with trollery, self-congratulation, and/or obviously bullshit erofics.
