Second-level redirects are deprecated, so the wiki software doesn't handle them (unless Eddie's changed the software since the last time I checked). If you make Title 3 redirect to Title 2, which redirects to Title 1, then clicking on a link to Title 3 won't take you to Title 1.
This was originally implemented to prevent the creation of pages that redirect to each other.
That was actually put in place to prevent a bug. Somebody accidentally turned Page A into a redirect to Page B, which was already a redirect to Page A resulting in a redirect loop. Making redirects only able to point at real pages bypassed the entire problem without having to check the content of the page beyond whether or not it exists.
Fight smart, not fair. You can still make second-level redirects if you turn a page with pre-existing redirects into a redirect.

Regulated fun - the best kind! I don't make the rules, just enforce them with an iron fist.Bumping and adding another related request. We need an easier way to edit redirects. The current one is not only very inconvenient, but I don't even think it's mentioned anywhere on the wiki, which might be contributing to the whole "ghost redirect" problem where people neglect to reassign the old redirects when they rename something. I'm not entirely sure how to go about this, but I'm thinking either use the titles in the alt titles bar as editing links or make a new button that gives you a selection box with all the page's redirects. I'll be happy with anything that doesn't require copying code in the address bar really.

I've been Bluelinked
No, I don't think it does anymore.
If you want to edit a redirect, you can type in the url for the edit page directly.
The url for NightmareFuel.Walt Disney Pictures is https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/NightmareFuel/WaltDisneyPictures
.
To edit that page, add "?action=edit" to the end of the url like this
.
My guess is that it's to discourage people from (accidentally) editing redirects. You can do it if you really want to but you have to know how.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()
I don't think knowing how should require you to go ask on the forums.
The most obvious way would be to make a new button for editing redirects, though it would have to let you pick one somehow when there's more than one. Maybe it can be located in the alt titles bar and switch them between plain text and editing links or something.
On a slightly related note, would it be possible to have notifications for when a watchlist item gets a new redirect added or an old one removed? Because that's the last thing most people notice about the page.

Pretty self-explanatory really. Can we have redirects in namespaces other than Main show up in the alt titles bar with their namespaces? Also I've noticed that the system doesn't show second level redirects - as in redirects to a redirect to the page, so they end up as a kind of hidden alt titles. There probably aren't many cases, but it does happen, likely as a result of renaming where someone forgets to reassign the old redirects. Can anything be done about that? If not, then maybe we should make a thread to report these and fix them one by one.
