...Herp a derp, forgot that part. >_>
Eario is one of BiTF's few original characters, basically a guy who looks like Mario and is a total nobody whose job is to be "Janitor of the Mushroom Kingdom," AKA cleaning up the mess Mario leaves behind.
I figured it would make sense for something like that to exist given the J-Team's propensity for property damage.

Contact Me!Turned off how? And to the games, that's even more worrisome...

Contact Me!OK, to everyone who saw that... I am incredibly sorry, and I really hope the things I said didn't cut too deeply for you to forgive me...
I am especially apologetic to Straw, who I've really been getting on the nerves of lately, as far as I can tell, which I can't help but feel personally sorry for.
For anyone who didn't see it: I basically let my pent-up feelings get to me due to some words people said about my ideas, and spewed hate at everyone. Because I wanted myself gone.
I just posted a loving thank you to all you guys yesterday... I should stick to it. Heck, it'll be my new years resolution. Not a joke one either.
I will treat you guys the way you deserve to be treated. As friends.
Contact Me!It's okay, Umbra. As I said, we've both had our issues lately. I also think we all need to get better at sorting out our issues. Like, using the Discussion thread more for those who don't regularly/can't access the chat, or those who don't keep up with logs. And sorting out problems as soon as possible, rather than drag it out for days so that people get even more annoyed with the problem.
With that said, I should probably talk more about my problems, and maybe find some possible solutions. My RL issues is of course nothing we can really do anything about here, so let's work with what can be worked with, I guess.
Well, in school related and certain other situations, I've always been the kind of person who might freak out somewhat if I don't know exactly what will be going on, or what I'll have to do, so maybe I need even more detailed explainations of certain plot lines, including just how they are intended to end/be resolved? If that is possible, I mean.
And well, certain things that seem to slightly deconstruct certain elements of the games in the RP seems to have alerted me to just how frightening the world of Pokemon is. Maybe some of those elements should be reconstructed? Things that immedietly come to mind is the law enforcement thing I brought up before, and how easy it seems to find legendary Pokemon and ways to control them. (unless that is already being done, and I haven't noticed for whatever reason)
Also, another concern of mine is the whole thing with certain regions in RtAU being played differently in tone, which I worry may cause some rather disturbing Mood Whiplash at certain points... All that really needs to be done about that one, I suppose, is to make sure the transition won't be too jarring, if possible?
The whole issue about certain issues not being dealt with as soon as possible is also one of the issues bothering me, but I've already adressed that earlier in my post, so I don't need to bring that up again, since you can just scroll up to see that again.
DS: Thank you for posting a detailed explanation.
I for one am supportive of reconstructing certain elements of the games the RP deconstructs.
As for the tone shifts... Doing them more gradually can work, yes.
And we definitely need to deal with stuff more promptly/bring it up more.

Contact Me!I'd be down for some reconstruction. I think that people being too damn proud of their deconstructions, and not considering that the elements they deconstructed were the way they were for a reason, is a problem with a lot of modern works.
The law enforcement issue is an easy fix, I think. Even in the games, law enforcement isn't really incompetent. They're just a bit slower than the main character. The regular cops can be seen patrolling areas, and always stop you to ask you questions (and, conveniently, challenge you to a Pokemon Battle) if you're not really supposed to be there. And Looker, despite being funny, is actually a very good police officer, and a master of disguise. He's always no more than a couple seconds behind you when you're arresting people, and if he was just a little better at speaking the language, he would be indistinguishable at the people he dresses as...which makes the fact that he can perfectly disguise himself as a rock so important. He could be anywhere, on the lookout for criminal activity.
The Legendary problem requires a bit more work, but perhaps giving them a bit more freedom to appear, or not, as they please, instead of constantly being called on would be helpful. And lessening their importance just a bit. Arceus makes sense to be on such a high pedestal, since it created the universe, and rarely even appears in our world in the first place. But some of the others (especially Ho-Oh) have gotten a bit too big for their britches, and it seems like if they're really as powerful and important as they're made out to be, that they wouldn't be quite so easy to find.
YES
SO MUCH YES
I LOVE YOU, WOLF
-Hugs-
(More seriously, I agree quite a bit. Though being harder to find might be problematic for some of my legends.)
Contact Me!Umbra: Well, I do honestly think that giving the Legendaries more free will is the best way to go for this. If they choose to appear to you, they will, but they don't have to, basically. And perhaps letting them be exempt from the Vow.
Crow: Personally, I agree with DS on the law enforcement issue, so I would focus on that. It's probably something not a lot of people consider, since we only ever see Looker, who is something of a Bunny-Ears Lawyer (although a major element of the Bunny-Ears Lawyer is that they're really good at their job) but there is an International Police organization out there, doing stuff.
Wolf: Ah, noted.
And yeah, exposing more competent members of law enforcement would be nice.
Contact Me!I do agree deconstruction without eventual reconstruction gets rather grating.
My personal philosophy regarding stories, is that there is one word that sums up the difference between a story and an account: "but"
Thus the two classic kinds of stories are:
- Tragedy: Good things! But now bad things!
- Comedy: Bad things! But now good things!
Or, for a more visual idea: The Shapes Of Stories
(if you have 5 minutes, watch that. Your life will be better for it.
)
All right, seems we're making some progress here.
Oh, and another thing I remembered, we should probably get better at co-ordinating certain sub-plots, so we can get our stories told without risking breaking part of someone else's story. Of course, with RL and timezones, that may be difficult at times. So, how do we get around that one?
@De/reconstruction: I'm going to say that I don't find deconstruction in and of itself to be a bad thing (nor reconstruction, for that matter). No permeation of a trope is automatically a bad thing, and deconstruction simply involves applying a different chain of thought to something that isn't explored as fully as it could be.
The problem arises when that chain of thought defaults to the nastiest possible explanation (the extra energy for Flamethrower comes from sacrificing the matter of the user!) as opposed to something perhaps less dark (there is a sac of flame-producing liquid inside the user, the liquid is built from food and the user's innards are fireproof). While both are technically deconstructions, the former overlaps unnecessarily with playing the trope for drama, something that is fine in small amounts but doesn't need to be overdosed on.
So...yeah.
@Legendaries: Completely agreed that Legendaries should make themselves known less, particularly on the subject of Ho-oh.
To Umbra (and anyone else who manages similar numbers of legendaries): I at least don't see it so much as an issue of giving them screentime, rather that they shouldn't show up so much around everyone else. Legendaries exist when we're not looking at them, after all.
Dunsparce didn't stop being a thing or anything.Every: Agreed on both Deconstructions and Legends.
Tangent: Agree that too many Deconstructions without reconstructions is grating. Also bookmarked that video. :P
Contact Me!I'd say that, plus make sure everyone has whoever/whatever they need to finish current plots and making sure it doesn't conflict with someone else needing them
Though that might have been implied by Eskay's Post

"Don't worry, murder is a sign of affection." - An amalgamation of Dunsparce

For Straw and anyone else who doesn't know who he is
Essentially, he's a character original to Bi TF who cleans up after Mario after he goes through each course, or whatever
