I don't blame you, how could you or I have expected several people to decide to follow in your immediate footsteps?
Updated plans for Conquest
Kaius
◊ is Eskay's
◊ ancestor, a Warlord from Dragnor and Ransei!Lina's husband, who has a Perfect Link with a Flygon, specifically Spectrum's ancestor, whom he named Famire*. Alli's
◊ most similar-looking ancestor, likewise, is Lina. Diane's
◊ ancestor still needs some planning, although her Perfect Link will, in fact, be a Staraptor.
Oh, and, Kaius has a pair of matching swords for reasons I still have yet to decide. But he has them. Because I said so.
At the end of the arc, Kaius might end up "dying" in a warehouse fire lit by an Arcanine. A white one, to be precise. However, rather than actually dying, something will happen to get him sent to the present as we know it, where Kaius will find Lina after all this time. However, I'm not 100% sure I'm actually going to do this. I'd like to, though.
Any ideas for Ancestor!Diane would be nice, as would additional suggestions for Kaius.
And this was most definitely not an excuse to show off all those CC portraits, nope!
And now, for a question
Are we going to have occasional flash-forwards to the present time during the arc as characters discover their relations to each other through their ancestors? Right now, I can only think of such things happening if Umbra and/or Lina were involved, but I'm sure there are other methods of finding out.
Also, can it be assumed that we'll be defining the majority of the region, since nations generally consist of more than just one city? it seems like a lot of work... but also a lot of freedom, being able to shape the structure of each location of the region to your will.

Another kitbag question: What's RCing?
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Ah, like NPCing, except the controller isn't necessarily the GM? Also, what does the acronym stand for?
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Hey, I just wanted to know if there is any chance of me joining in on this adventure... I found it, read through most of the stuff on the page on it, and it sounds pretty interesting.
So my idea for my character is that, since some of you are in the PMD universe anyway, my character (who's name is Matt because it's simple) was teleported there years ago because of some plot event that screwed up space/time/dimensions/the like. (And in true idiot's style, he basically said "Hey, you legendaries, I don't want to be a Pokemon trainer, and there's NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT before the incident happened. This caused him to not only be teleported to the PMD universe, but also to become a Pokemon (probably a Totodile or some evolution therof). Because Matt figured out pretty quickly that he got screwed, he decided that it was time to get better in his new form, and at least ATTEMPT to succeed. He also has a great fear of Skarmories because they're big winged death that he's no good at killing.

WHAT ARE YOU, SOME KIND OF POKEMON VOODOO PRIEST?At Eskay
Sounds cool! I'll try and think of suggestions for the things you mentioned, but I just got up.
At the new guy
Eh, even with all that planned out you probably want to wait. Also, read Every's essay and my newbie tips, and try to acess one or both of the chats.
Though if you retain the fear of Skarmories I can see Xaldin having fun with that. >:3 And while youre not limited to starters, there's someone around here who will be pleased with a Totodile Pokeform.

Contact Me!Ooh, speaking of weapons, I was thinking that Ancestor!DS might carry around some sort of staff. Not sure if she would focus her warrior power through it, or if it is just a regular weapon, or something.
Not sure what kind of weapon Ancestor!Veronica would use, if any. She'd spend most of her time in battle riding her Zebstrika.
Thoughts?
DS: Sounds cool~
As for my characters' WEPONS... as mentioned already, Lina has a sword. Umbra has either a sword or a mage staff. Ammy... has all the Okami weapons. :P
Contact Me!On the new guy
Hello, Matt. If you have a Totodile line member as your Pokéform, I will love you forever. Literally. Also, what I'm about to say will help you in the long run, so sit tight.
On Newbies and Joining
It's been brought to my concern that very few people are actually making an effort to sort out the issues we have been having with newbies. Having done some thinking about it, I think I may have found the issue here.
It's not that the sign-up process isn't filtering the good from the bad, it's that after a newbie has told us what their name is, what their character is like and what sort of Pokémon they have (And hopefully what they're like, too), we then just pretty much leave them to fend for themselves.
And herein lies the problem.
Recall what happened with Musik a few weeks ago. He did some worldbuilding that violated a few things with the AU and PMD-B Sinnoh, and we were quick to assume that he was just another newbie causing trouble.
But on looking back at it, how was he even supposed to know what he did was wrong when nobody even bothered to give him a crash course in the world of WAAPT and how it works? It was akin to just tossing him in the ocean and shouting at him when he started drowning!
In other words, Musik wasn't the problem. It was us.
We've been trying to look for solutions in all the wrong places. Sure, we could require people to fill in a proper sign-up sheet, but that's not going to solve the problem if we just leave newbies to fend for themselves like this.
What we instead need to do is offer guidance.
When somebody new wants to join, we shouldn't just ask for a few details and let them loose, we should give them a crash course on WAAPT and how it works. We should spend time telling them the intricacies of this world, what they can and can't do, and give them tips on how to RP well with us, perhaps help them nail down some more details of their characters.
Then, when they're ready to actually start R Ping, we should assign them someone who's available to act as their R Ping partner for a while so that they don't have to wander around blindly for hours with nothing to do.
Granted, I'm not sure if this method would filter out the genuinely damaging players like Ori or 49, but it will make things much easier for both us and newbies.
I don't think it would be hard to make just a bit more effort on this front, so can you consider it, please?
Thank you, Luke. You've managed to word what I'd been wanting to say about the issue much better than I could have even attempted.
We did, after all, survive a year and a half without a shgnup sheet, so that couldn't have been the issue. In fact, having been here for only about 3 months, I know and remember from experience that guidance is what we need.
Personally, I think the main problem is, we're too tired of the current arc to care about guiding the new players. We just want to focus on getting our own stuff done as fast as possible without "distractions". And that's exactly the attitude we don't need.
What makes me think this was the problem? Well, recall that I joined at the very end of an arc. Specifically, the end of Infinity Keystone. Since we were in between arcs at the time, we were in a sort of "resting period" between that arc and this one. We had no concerns about still having stuff to do, so that freed up some room for helping me out.
Also, notice how several times since then, it was me who tried to guide the new players - Trip and Psyche at the time - into the RP. I didn't really have much I planned on doing yet, so they blended in easily. Trip had a few problems a bit into it, but we managed to solve them. After Psyche, though, I lost the habit - and the chances - to be there when a new person needed someone. And that was when it started becoming an issue.
So yeah, guidance is what's really needed. I can tell firsthand.

Glad to have been of service.
So? Why not just find someone willing to let a newbie join their plot for a while to get adjusted? It's a lot easier to just tag along with someone for a while then to have to come up with your own plot completely from scratch in order to have something to do, and that never works out well.
Yeah, I agree. One of the reasons I consider jumping in in the middle of PMD a failure is because I was kinda floating around disconnected from everything.
Also, IMHO, if something suffers from Arc Fatigue, it's better to end it quickly (via Hand Waves if they're needed) than to let it drag.
...Yeah, I agree pretty much wholeheartedly with Luke on this. Not that a signup process wouldn't be handy.

So far, the chats have seemed to calm down, but it's probably best for you to wait a few days anyway. I'll miss you, though. *Hug*
