I'm still here, but am waiting for PMD to end.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Figures. Still, there are tons of stuff to do, so I'm not bored.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Because I tried jumping in while it was running and got too confused.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Silent: It can't really be helped. I don't want to make up regions for the Conquest arc, which limits us to what is in the games. I've included all the regions that are listed on Bulbapedia (including the Orange Islands), so that's what there is.
Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh are unquestionably part of real-world Japan. There's just no getting around that. We put Almia directly south of Sinnoh, so it's there, too. Fiore is probably in a similar situation.
Unova, and Orre are New York/New Jersey, and Arizona, respectively. Oblivia is likely Hawaii.
Neither the Orange Islands, nor Ransei exist in the real world. The Orange Islands are vaguely near our Japan analogue, but aren't necessarily part of it. Ransei's character distribution is roughly analogous to the real Japan during the Sengoku period (as I discovered last night, when talking to Pika), but seeing as it's one island shaped like Arceus, and not several islands shaped like Japan, it could theoretically be anywhere.
I even remember RP!Tagg describing it as pretty much Unplottable.
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.If we are going to have them all be on a Japan-analogue (remember that we don't have to, there's very little canon regarding the shape of Pokearth), we could situate Fiore in the Shimane Province
. It looks like the best fit for Fiore, even if it's not that close.
Problem with that is Fiore is supposed to be relatively closest to Sinnoh out of all the regions. Putting it there makes it closest to Hoenn. (Personally, since Sinnoh looks like Hokkaido and Hoenn is Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands (Which I feel I should mention does have a different culture from mainland Japan.) compressed and rotated about 90 degrees, to me it's not that much of a stretch to assume that the landmass that Kanto and Johto are on is a Honshu analogue.)
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.If you are, I don't think you should use that cloud placement to determine exact location. (That map was made before HGSS at the beginning of the DP saga after all, since the Safari Zone area is under cloud cover.) It's probably just artistic license so that they don't have to show everything due to the amount of distance between regions.
(For the record, I don't think it's an exact 1:1 ratio between the regions of Gens I-IV since obviously Kyushu doesn't have a desert and a good portion of northern Honshu isn't covered by desert either. It is fairly mountainous though (Which would probably explain where Larvitar get all their food).)
@Daisy: Nice.
