Sorry for the double post.

Starting tomorrow, I am going to be going on vacation. If I have Wifi, I'll be in the chats and maybe posting. Aside from those times, I'll be absent for about a week.

Straw reminds me, I should post here too, I guess.

I'm going on a People to People trip starting today. I may or may not have wifi, but either way I'll probably be absent for the vast majority if the time, maybe I'll show up in the chats to say hi once in a while, but I really should be focusing on the trip itself.

I'll be gone for three weeks... Anyone in FE can either RC Hunter and Spencer or just kind of forget about them, I'm fine with either.

Mind, uh... We can time shenanigan the balloon thing when I get back? Sorry we didn't get around to finishing it.

Well, this is awkward...

Yeah, I won't be around from this Sunday until August 2nd.

Anything can be done with my characters, including ignoring them completely. However, if PMD ends before I get back, it can be assumed they all returned to the human world as well. Except the Slowking.

You can assume Straw and co. return to the OU if I'm not around when it ends. I can just time shenanigan the Rigel, Alnitak, and Eta battle. Same for Helryx's plot.

And now for something completely different. (It's vaugely RP-related, I swear.)

To anyone with a 3DS (That also has me added as a friend and has Swapnote)

I couldn't really sleep last night, so I took the logical, sane course of action and made over a week's worth of timed Swapnotes, to be sent as soon as I get actual Wifi. Now, some details:

  • These Swapnotes are timed, one a day being revealed for a little over a week. (There are still some I have yet to send, since you can't Date Stamp more than a week in advance.) Anyone who skips ahead deserves to have the surprises horribly spoiled.

  • These Swapnotes all have a theme, though it should be guessed pretty quickly. The reason for this theme will be revealed next Friday.
    • Only a few will really care about the reason, but I figured everyone would enjoy these anyway.

  • Respond however you would like.

  • If the one for Saturday gets delivered both then and today, then I apologize, and feel free to delete the earlier one. (It features some foxes. ;) )

That's it, so enjoy.

Rt AU idea: Bahahkun

I'll be blunt: I think Prolio needs more plot involvement. So, I created a plan (and Umbra and Tracer helped me with this) involving the leader of the Lapis Fang clan.

Essentially, it would work like this: AU!Prolio would live somewhere in Unova. Some years prior, he caught Bahahkun (will have a different name) for use in his team. After Bahahkun got wind of the Dragon Clan, she quickly betrayed Prolio and joined. Using her EV-training, she rose through the ranks to her current position.

After the Clan's defeat, Bahahkun gets ejected from the universe and her kid gets sent to OT!Prolio to be raised. Prolio suffers a selective My Brain Overrunneth and gets the good memories of his AU time with Bahahkun, leading him to genuinely care for the kid. The kid, after all, is completely harmless and innocent. Bahakun would get the ultimate mother's punishment by not being told where her baby was going, and this also means that in the Rt AU verse Maleficent would not exist.

This signature is empty. Nothing to see here.

Hello, everyone!

Sorry, just wanted to use the header. ^u^

Anyway, I've got a couple of things to discuss! Don't worry, it's nothing scary or important. Just some fun stuff here! But it is going to be quite long, so fasten your seat belts!

First, clearly I'm back to posting (and have been all day). Yay~

Wolf is near DS, Katie is with Forte, their 'mons are in and around Treasure Town, and Steven and Dana are in Kanto. If you're nearby, and want to interact, go right ahead! :D

Speaking of Wolf and Katie's teams, clearly there are a lot of Pokemon involved in them. Sometimes it's a little overwhelming, but I don't like writing out characters, because I like having them if I need them. Besides, I love all of my Pokemon~ So, from now on, if you want to see what a specific 'mon is up to, go ahead and let me know! In this regard, I am very susceptible to peer pressure. If enough people tell me they want to see Albur do something, for example, I will definitely work on it. tongue

As for Steven, he's in Kanto. I don't know if anyone is nearby, but if you are, and want to play with an adorable Rattata, just say so. Because while she loves playing with Stevie, I'm sure Dana is bored, and would like to make new friends. :3

Now for something a little more intricate, the Conquest arc! Having now played the game (sort of; I've restarted a few times, and am trying to come up with a concrete battle plan before starting again), I have some ideas on how to actually write the arc, how to keep it from going too Darker and Edgier, and I would like peoples' opinions on a few things. So, here we go!

First thing's first, does everyone remember the original pitch? Here's the basic idea again, refined slightly from my rambling about it (as I discovered when I searched for the original idea, I referred to is as a "brain good idea thing"):

In the distant past of the Pokemon World, all of our Identical Ancestors are vying for control of...well...the world, essentially. Everyone has a partner Pokemon, who may or may not be your Pokeform in the present. The idea is to explore the history of the WAAP Tverse, as well as the mythology behind some of the OG elements.

Note that if you don't want to participate in this arc, you don't have to. I'm sure there's something that non-participants can find to do in the present, should they so choose. And that's perfectly okay. smile

Now, for the specifics: in the Conquest universe, there are people who can communicate with Pokemon without words. These people are known as Warriors. And since Warriors are the only people who are ever important in the game, all of our characters are Warriors.

There are two levels of Warrior in Pokemon Conquest: standard Warriors, and Warlords. Warlords are the characters of the game, while Warriors are the generic people you can recruit to fill out your army. I'm not so much a fan of the term "Warlords" and prefer Serebii's designation of "Warlord Leaders". Specifically, referring to them as "Leaders" lets us build them up as a precursor to the modern Gym system.

All of our main characters (that is, the primary player characters) should be Leaders. This does not mean, however, that everyone is in charge of a region of their own. In the game's story, whoever is in charge of a country is that country's Warlord. But in terms of actual gameplay, it's a much looser definition. For example, the Warlord of Terrera is Shingen, but there are two more Leader characters in the country, who answer to him, Yukimura, and Kunoichi. If you want to be one of these subordinate Leaders, that's fine. In fact, working for someone else might be fun! Who knows!

As for secondary characters, they can go either way. I would probably make Katie a subordinate Leader, for example, but if you want to make one of your people just a wandering Warrior who picks up with one of the Leaders, that's totally fine.

Now, for the Pokemon themselves! Instead of catching Pokemon, Conquest has Links, which is essentially bonding with the Pokemon, so that it chooses to join you. Every generic Warrior has exactly one Perfect Link, the Pokemon that is best suited to them (although in practice this is actually one Pokemon line that is best suited to them, with a couple exceptions). Leaders also have only one Perfect Link usually. Some of them also have an additional Perfect Link with a Legendary. Nobunaga actually has three entirely separate Perfect Links.

Anyway, your ancestor's Perfect Link should probably be your character's Pokeform. However, they do not need to be the Pokemon you primarily use. While only one Pokemon can be used in any given battle, everyone has a different capacity for how many Pokemon they can be linked with. The range for the Leaders, when they're fully evolved (which is a mechanic I don't think we need for the arc, although if anyone has an idea for how to make it work, I'm all ears) goes from as low as 4 up to 8, with the average being a little over (surprise) 6. Generics range from 1-8, although only one each for the extreme ends, and the average is slightly more than 4.5. I think the Capacity rule is something we should keep. "But Wolf," you're saying, "What if I want more than [X] of my Pokemon to be in the arc?" Easy! Have them linked with other Warriors! After all, it's unlikely that all of your Pokemon are descendants of Pokemon that your ancestor had. Maybe some of them belonged to generic Warriors, or even other Leaders!

Moving on to the Battle system! I know that some people were worried that this arc would skew pretty dark, what with everyone being at war with each other. After playing the game, however, I think we can make it work without having to go that dark. The battles in the game aren't open warfare. They're much more ceremonial. Warlords can challenge each other, and the winner gets the country the battle takes place in. Not the most stable of political situations, but it seems to work for them tongue. Battles are constructed on special-made fields for the occasion. It's actually a lot like a Gym Battle where all the Pokemon are on the field at once. The goal isn't even necessarily defeating your opponent's Pokemon. Some Warlords make you capture points on the map, instead.

Every participating Warrior may bring one Pokemon, and up to six Warriors may participate per side. For simplicity's sake, I propose cutting that to three in the RP, but I'm flexible on this point. At the end of the battle, Warriors may or may not offer to join you, based on your actions in battle (there are three ways to recruit Warriors, though we don't need to follow them in the RP). Leaders may also offer to join you, but only if you meet one of the criteria for recruiting, and the finishing blow was dealt by one of your own Leaders.

I imagine that the RP version of these battles will play like a cross between Agni Kai, and chess. A ceremonial battle where the aim isn't to kill, and strategy of movement is a big factor in winning. Basically, it's a precursor to modern Pokemon battles.

Time for Regions! Clearly, there aren't quite enough regions for everyone to run one. However, if we split up the main series ones (Northern/Eastern/Western Sinnoh, Northern/Southern Unova, Orre, etc.) as well as include Ransei, we should be fine. We can discuss how we want to split this up.

Now that we've covered the basics of the game, let's go back to characters. It's already a little odd that the Pokemon World allows 10-year-olds to wander around on adventures. It would probably be strange, and rather uncomfortable, for those same 10-year-olds to be participating in battles that have stakes beyond having to run to a Pokemon Centre and giving up some money (barring the odd occasion where one of them saves the world, of course). As such, and since we don't all need to be the same age in relation to each other, in the past, feel free to play with your characters' ages. Katie will likely be several years older, and even Wolf will likely be in his mid-20s, at least. I'd say the minimum age for the characters in the arc should be 16. Let me know if you have an opinion on that.

Character interactions! Part of the fun of this arc is that you're not confined by your character's personal history! In fact, I encourage you to think outside the box, and have your character do things, and interact with people they normally wouldn't. For example, Wolf and Fool are very good friends (considering each other to be foster siblings, of sorts). Perhaps their ancestors didn't get along at all. Alternatively, Wolf has a bit of a strained relationship with Tagg. They might be close allies in this era! grin This isn't even limited to human characters! If you want to try something different with your Pokemon, that's great! Of course, don't think that everything needs to be the opposite, either. If you want to keep things with someone mostly the way they are in the present, that's alright, too!

Related to the above: shipping! Clearly, if these characters are our ancestors, they all need to have children eventually. That doesn't need to occur during the arc itself, mind you, but it needs to happen at some point in the future (or have already happened in the past, if you want your ancestor to skew older). This means that you'll likely be involved with someone during the arc. You don't have to, of course, but it's fun to play around with these things. Because, of course, it's very unlikely that the ancestor of the person you are currently dating will be the person your ancestor had children with (not to mention kind of squicky, even with all those generations between them), this is another area where mixing things up is encouraged! For example, Ancestor!Wolf is married to Ancestor!Sierra, explaining why they bonded so quickly in the present (they're distantly related), and referencing Wolf's affinity for Ninetales, despite having a Glaceon Pokeform (Sierra's Pokeform is a Vulpix, so Ancestor!Sierra likely has one as her Partner). And DS has discussed her own plans for romance in this arc that have nothing to do with Wolf whatsoever.

Remember that these characters are supposed to be identical ancestors. They're expies of our regular characters. Their ages may be different, and they may have variations on their personality, but they're not created from whole cloth. It's the circumstances of their lives that have led them to be different, not something intrinsic about them.

Here's an anecdote that doesn't really fit into any particular category, but that I'm going to leave here in the hope that it serves as inspiration for the kind of character history I'm talking about. Wolf and Katie will both have Ancestors in this arc, but they won't be related to each other. Instead, Ancestor!Wolf will come from their father's lineage, while Ancestor!Katie is from their mother's.

The goal of the arc is to unite the world under one Leader. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen (I'm guessing not :P). Perhaps something else happens that brings the story of the arc to a close. Perhaps they unite against a greater foe than each other. Who knows? Remember, character interaction is the key, and plots will develop during the pre-arc brainstorming.

As for how to start the arc...I'm not sure. I have a few ideas, but don't know which, if any, to choose. Idea #1 is a machine that accesses genetic memory, a la the Animus. With this idea, we are essentially watching events unfold, in first-person, but we'd have no control over them. Things need to happen the way they happened. We would be able to give our own thoughts on the goings on, though. Idea #2 is almost the same, but not quite. We are Time Shenaniganed to be our Ancestors for a little while. Again, our modern selves have no control. Things need to play out as thy played out. Our regular characters wouldn't be able to react to the events, though, except post-arc. Finally, Idea #3 is that we discover ancient diaries, inscriptions, scrolls, what-have-you, and read about what happened (portraying it as a flashback). This would allow certain key events to be omitted (left out of the account, damaged beyond legibility, lost) and found later, or simply found in someone else's account. We would also be able to react in this one.

If you have another idea for how to get into this arc, feel free to say so! I am open to suggestions!

Man that was long! But I'm glad I got it all out, and I hope you read it, because it is kind of important for the Conquest arc.

And now, it is much later than I should be up. So good night, everyone!

Hm... Might have to adapt a few of my character traits for my planned ancestor character.

Mostly because he currently is an antique jewelry/magic artifact dealer with a very, very distinct personality.

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

So assuming that one's character is a Leader, and that we're cutting down the standard number of Warriors to three, one will have to come up with three extra people to wander around with them? Just trying to clarify...

Not quite yet, I think, but it's getting close. At least the Portal arc part of it is over, and I'm not totally sure what's left.

Also, I'm now in Israel, and will be for a few more days, so I won't be able to be in chats for a bit, but I'll be able to keep up with thread somewhat.

Also, editing to add an extra thought on Wolf's arc explanation: I think the idea of subordinate Leaders is very interesting. I'll think about that. If I do end up wanting to participate, I think I'd prefer a smaller role like that. It also seems like it could serve as a compromise over regions, for example if a lot of people want, say, Sinnoh, there could be some subordinate Leaders, although that seems less like a compromise and more like 'we'll both get it, but you get the short end of the stick.' I'm not sure. I'd certainly be willing to do it for Unova, since I think I'm leaning towards subordinate Leader anyway.

Quite a few of us still have things that need doing in PMD-A & B, so it's still gonna' be a while until the end of the arc.

That said, the OU (As well as the AU and Other verse) is still a thing that exists. There's absolutely no reason you can't go there and do standard Pokémon trainer stuff before the end of this arc. Granted, there may not be many people there, but anything's better than nothing, right?

Well, I've changed my plans around a little bit, a lot of the focus will be on Veronica's ancestor character, I think, who takes on a Mysterious Protector role to DS' ancestor character...

Assuming I'm even around for that arc, since I'm so bored with the RP right now. I can't keep track of anything, I don't know what is planned, what is being planned or how to get involved, all the characters are boring and predictable to me these days, and I haven't even gotten the main thing I wanted out of the PMD arc...

I do have plans for later story arcs, and I do want to discuss them with people, but... I don't know... I don't get the impression that anyone is really interested, but then again, if I don't even find other things interesting, why should you people find my ideas interesting?

I... I just don't know anymore.
