Hm, I kinda think I should leave. I can't find my hands or legs around here.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.The wiki
is also there for more permanent documenting of stuff, even if it's quite lacking (almost 700 wanted pages). There is a custom namespace for planning arcs, Arc Development, currently only home to the RtAU primer
. If anyone has issues with it, please let me know, and I'll do my best to fix it.
I feel as we need to improve our communication, since I feel I've seen a lot of instances of Poor Communication Kills lately. Remembering to use the Discussion thread more would probably help a lot.
Plot idea!
Sonic Generations
arc!
Only, we'd be going through our OWN history. I haven't decided why they'd be going through time, but I was thinking maybe it could be the Iron-Masked Maruader
and his Dark Celebi
.
After some thought, I think that we should NOT meet our past selves like Sonic did, for two reasons:
1. We have so many damn characters, I don't think we need so many more.
2. Character changes. It probably wouldn't be fair to those who arrived later, because they wouldn't get to meet themselves. And I'm sure we all want to do that. There's also quite a few characters who retired for one reason or another, and I don't want any unexplained absences.
Section 1: We Are All Early Pokemon Trainers
Stage 1: Sinnoh (from the Sinnoh section).
Stage 2: PMD-A (from the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon section).
Stage 3: Unova (from the Unova section).
Boss: Missingno or 'M. Yes, I know that both of them were removed from our spacetime continuum, but so was Crisis
City
, so I don't have to and don't want to care. 'M won't have its legend shield of course, so Anom will actually live to see the fight.
Section 2: We Are All Mid-Timeline Pokemon Trainers
Stage 1: Oblivia (from Ranger Regions section).
Stage 2: Johto (from The Gold Conference section).
Stage 3: Alternate Universe! (from the AU section).
Boss: Either Darkrai, the Suefisk, or Primal Dialga.
Section 3: We Are All Recent Pokemon Trainers
Stage 1: Orange Islands (from The Orange Islands section).
Stage 2: Hoenn (from Hoenn section).
Stage 3: Kanjoh (from The Infinity Keystone and Kanto-Johto section).
Boss: Either Tyranitar Team (An unofficial name for the Tyranitar attack), Rotom Riot (An unofficial name for Charon's many Rotom), or Spiritomb Cemetary (An unofficial name for Annoski's many Spiritomb).
Final Boss: Whoever caused the Trainers to go back in time in the first place.

This signature is empty. Nothing to see here.@Anom: But you'll be REJOINING the RP, because you WON'T screw up because you're a GOOD RP-er and we LIKE you and FORGIVE you. Right, everyone?
@People-who-aren't-Anom-who-ninja'd-me-except-for-Wolf: Well, we have more players with more background... and it would help the newer people get to know the history better (in a better way than an Archive Binge). Could you at least try to think of a way for it to work? I'm really excited that this will work, and I'm too stubborn to give up right now.

Long time I hadn't need to use this, and perhaps it was too long to be good.
And it seems there are some things to be said.
On Planning and Documentation
===================
Considering the little outburst that was there while I was gone and that originated a couple of comments on would have-s and must have-s, there are some things to reconsider.
First, and I think this needs to be stressed enough, we kinda sorta took a commitment to always post overall planning details in Discussion Thread, regardless or where and how did the planning process go. We haven't really followed on that, I guess. Discussion (Thread) is in the end the place intended for most of us to reliably check if something is up for, well, Discussion. There have been quite some issues simply because in the last four weeks or so we haven't been majorly pushing plot changes and RF Cs there and it has bit us badly a couple of times already. (As an aside, you'll have to excuse me for not posting in Discussion - for the most part, it's not like I explicitly *can*. But I trust that someone will adequately reflect my voice when the time comes to do so.)
So yeah, let's use Discussion more, the way we said we would, I guess.
That is not an excuse though, to complain that things are not being planned or that we are keeping people out of the loop, except for what we are at fault by design for Continuity Lockout. This in particular in what comes to planning of upcoming arcs. We have a wiki now
and that is where a good amount of information on characters and plots can be finally, reliably centralized so that it can be checked and worked upon, much easier than eg.: trying to check the chatroom logs looking for RP!Luke's family name or the origin of RP!Fool's fry pan (yeah, those are things to add ¬¬).
There is no complaining that "you wouldn't know what to look for" - there is a search box, there are categories, three big pages to start wikiwalking with, and we have some indexes for stuff like plots and characters. We even have at least one page on planning of a future arc.
What can be complained, and there's no point denying, is that "there's nothing to look for" - It is true that (like, in the end, any wiki) it could have more information, but that does not mean you shouldn't look there – on the contrary, to paraphrase TV Tropes, there are redlinks or missing information, "You could always edit it yourself". For pretty much every redlink there is chance, even if minimal, that you know at least a little bit of the character, plot or whatever so as to write a stub. And from there the articles grow, but if people use the wiki. Editing the wiki is not mandatory, of course, but that goes both ways: if you are going to complain to someone like me, or Jeff, that the wiki does not have information, ask yourself why, then remind people like Jeff and I take the time to do the work, then take a look at the mirror. *Protip*: The mirror is not at fault.
Which reminds me, we should be grateful to Jeff for setting up the (important part of) software backend that keeps the WAAPT wiki running and functional. And to Tangent for providing the server backend to keep the chatroom, etc. Now all we need is a Minecraft server with a PEFE scenario and-*brick'd*
If all that fails, you could always ask. The actions indicated by the verb "to ask", for which you can find information here
, have been carried out since even before the Babylonian Era by people in need (or by annoying children) in an effort to express doubts and inquiries as statements of problems that can then be processed for a solution, an "answer", and there is no particular reason this millenia-proved procedure would fails for us, now, here.
Most of the time you don't need an answer RIGHT NAO, so you can live with the question being transmitted from player to player until it hopefully reaches someone who can answer you. It has happened to all of us. Incidentally, it is one of the things the Discussion thread solves easily (hint hint). And if you need an answer RIGHT NAO, then you'll have to trust the people who are there and the sources of information we've tried to make available. We are all volunteers.
On PEFE-B and other arcs
===================
While it might sound somewhat jerkish, I can not apologize for the issues that the move (if partial) to the punBB thread caused to some players. I announced and requested for this to be prepared if there was going to be participation on my end for weeks, seems obvious to me now that no one cared, and I am not more or less between a rock and a hard place on timing and priorities.
In light of these events and considering that some players won't be able to access the new forum, or the wiki, or nothing but TV Tropes, I will have to take tighter considerations for my participation in upcoming arcs, of which they would be essentially PEFE-B, Almer/Hoenn and most importantly a possible preview, or pre-retcon, to Rt AU, which I have to start planning next week and which should mark my either-winddown-or-exit from the RP.
For the moment, I have the understanding that the idea is to run PEFE-B on both thread simultaneously by having the people who post mirroring / transcribinig their posts in each forum, which though slow is at least sure to work. If there's anything more to comment on that end that would be good. I would also like to have a more centralized assessment on how are the various PEFE-B players in what regards to 1.- plot availability and 2.- connection availability, if only to help delay / avoid more Poor Communication Kills moments.
Which brings me to another important subject...
On Internet Connection
===================
Look, people, I grok that some of you can not access the new forum, or perhaps that you can not access the wiki, but we are not at fault here. If I was given power to implement the wiki or the testing forum in the TV Tropes domain, I would, but I can't. I can only work with the power that is given to me, and with that I've been able to give you all of this.
But I have to say, if all of the RP you can access is TV Tropes and not even something like Bulbapedia as a source of intel, then really, all I can say is your internet connection is screwed, *fight for one better*.
Heck, even here in Chile we rise up and fight for our digital rights and try to get proxies taken down or made opt-in, people in more important countries with more money and awesome T1, wifi or satcom connections and, in the end of the day, a larger culture, like many of you, surely can set up a proxy, install Tor, stand up, write to your congressman or go complain to a political talk show or something that gets other sites de-blacklisted. But I can not operate (in particular, not at this point) under the constraint of "this person can only see these three I Ps", because simply I have no meaningful way to do anything about that now. Perhaps later in time, under other circumstances, but not now. I already gave you plenty of time.
Overall Exit Plan
===================
For the moment, my plan is still to move wholly to the new forum. If that leaves some people I could interact with behind, sorry, I can not do anything about that right now, you had enough time, all I can ask is that someone else reflects them to keep them up to speed. We can still interact over the punBB forum, or heck by Pidgin PM if it comes that far and we can set it up...
But at some point in the next week or two I am going to just drop the RP thread from my browser tabs. Too much noise in there for what the interaction I'm focused in needs. I will still catch up on weekends mostly until I am forced to leave, hopefully only temporarily.

Well, I don't know that replaying the major bossfights and some of the same enemies is the same as really learning the history. It's not that it necessarily doesn't work, I just don't think it'll work well enough as a new arc and not a lot of repeating.
To be honest, I think it'll end up being underwhelming because of the recycled foes. I'm sorry if that sounds too harsh.

Ab luce in tenebras et e tenebris venit lux; altera sine altera esse nequit, deinde nihil nisi concavum sit.Re: internet connections. The problems seem to mostly come from people who are on school servers. You can't just fight for blocked sites to be unlocked on those, especially if they're not relevant to schoolwork. As someone (Pent or Sixth) said, the only reason this site is unblocked is because it has literary applications.
Whoa, it seems I've landed in the middle of a very messy mess. I think I'll Ret-Gone Fal and co. away and re-introduce them at the start of the next arc.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.

Then I've probably forgotten — I've returned to reading it only recently after a long hiatus — I've stopped around chapter 35 for a long while.
