To Eskay
Hmmm... We're wrapping up an arc right now, but you can use this time to get info on your character and his mons ready, as well as going over the UND (especially Every's essay.) After that, THEN you can feel free to jump in and get acquainted. Also, feel free to ask our Chatroom
for help at any time.
Hmm... All I've really decided on so far is one of my Mons: a female shiny Arbok named Jazz. It's a nod to my first-ever shiny in the actual games, and it's named Jazz because (1) it's cool, and (2) it's the name of my friend's similarly-colored boa. I guess I'll keep this updated from time to time as I develop my character more.
EDIT: Maybe my habit of jumping in without knowing everything I need to can translate into a character trait...

Sounds good to me. And don't forget to follow that chat link.
(By the way, my first non-Red-Gyarados shiny was a Zubat. :3 )
Contact Me!How to explain the Early-Installment Weirdness IRP.
So, after going through some of our old posts, I have noticed a ton of inconsistencies in Pokemon teams, characterization and the like. Now, I'm not saying any names *cough-me-cough* but I think that some of the stuff contrasts with other material we have used in the RP since about the end of the AU.
I have a solution, or an Author's Saving Throw, to explain how we may go about fixing this.
You remember when Dialga split the OT and AU timelines, and all sorts of weird stuff happened? Like Daisy's Pokemon switching genders and other stuff that I'm most likely forgetting?
How about we make it so that the EIW was a result of messing with the timeline?
It would explain a lot of things, like why Gamer's team fluctuated all the time in the early days of the RP, and the weird stuff he mentioned.
Should we make this canon? And, if so, how would we incorperate it into the RP?

Feel free to add your own examples! ^_^
It could create another timeline(s) or it could not; the real risk is whether we will still share a single past timeline. The thing is, retcons are extreme measures for when the other alternative is an Ass Pull, sort of. We should think what needs to be changed and how before we try, or we'll end up with something like a multiple case of Multiple-Choice Past.
Aaaaand in what regards to changing the past, characters whose stories depend on early events in the RP have to be contacted, I guess.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?I think I have a solution. The EIW was the same time that Missingno. was the Big Bad, right? Let's associate it with his presence. It doesn't mess with the timeline or create more A Us or anything, and given the nature of glitches, weirdness becomes perfectly normal. Does this sound like a good solution?

That....actually works even better than my idea. Even though Missigno and 'M were erased from the multiverse when we defeated them, their actions still affected the world. In fact, that makes a perfect excuse to make the early, rockier days of the RP Broad Strokes canon. I fully approve of this idea.

"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Alright, since the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon arc is probably going to start sometime this week, I thought it would be a good time to write a primer for those still unclear on how the whole thing will work. Hopefully, this should be able to answer any questions you may have with the arc as a whole.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Returns
What is this all about? Haven't we done a PMD arc before?
We have, which is partly why we're doing this arc in the first place, as the first PMD arc took place over a matter of days at the beginning of the RP and could hardly be considered an arc at all by modern WAAPT standards.
To put it more simply; we're doing it properly this time.
How is this arc different from other arcs?
Well, for a start, this arc will take place in the world from the games Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness and The Sky. For those who haven't played these games, the main draw of this world is that consists of only Pokémon, who live in small communities, and for the most part, no humans.
Including you.
That's right, for this arc, you'll be mode-locked into your Pokéform without the use of the Human -> Pokémon armband, as will everyone else, gaining all the benefits and drawbacks of your Pokémon form.
Of course, although your body may have changed, you are still a trainer. You're very welcome to bring along as many, or as little, Pokémon on your team as you'd like to the Pokémon World. However, keep in mind that there won't be any access to the PC storage system while in this world, so make sure you have the Pokémon you want with you before you leave.
So...how are we going to get there?
The arc will presumably begin with everyone gathering at the Entralink in Unova, where a portal network to many different worlds has been set up, presumably by one of the legendary Pokémon. The exact reason why we decide to leave for the Pokémon world yet, but several ideas have been thrown around, ranging from "The J-Team leaves for a while so that everyone doesn't grow too dependent on them" too "Our more genre-savvy mons decide that we didn't do the PMD arc properly first time around and convince us to do it again properly."
What do we actually DO in this arc?
Soon after arriving, Tagg decides to go off and climb Destiny Tower, which you might know as the hardest Dungeon in PMD-Sky, to collect a rare artifact called the Space Time Orb. However, due to an accident, the orb is shattered, scattering it's pieces all over the world.
The goal of this arc is to find the pieces of the orb and reassemble it. Although the actual number of shards of the orb hasn't been decided upon yet, collecting them will be very similar in manner to collecting the Lake Trio's Tears in the recent Infinity Keystone arc.
I wasn't in Infinity Keystone. Care to elaborate?
Huh. I thought everyone was in that arc. Shows what I know...
How you find the shards of the orb is entirely up to you. You can find them by exploring Mystery Dungeons, earn them as rewards from helping Pokémon in need, or even fight another Pokémon who might have stolen them to get them back.
Of course, if you can't come up with any interesting scenarios of your own, then that's perfectly fine. You can just as easily tag along with somebody else and help them out as they try to find some shards.
What's this I've been hearing about "PMD-A" and "PMD-B?"
The shards of the Space Time orb have the unusual effect of being able to open portals to other universes. A few of us will be making use of this function to travel from "PMD-A", the world the PMD games take place in, to "PMD-B"...which is actually a "Bad Future" of the Alternative Universe from the AU arc, in which humanity was almost entirely converted into Pokémon by an army of Dragon Pokémon.
Basically, as well as exploring a Pokémon World long left untouched by humanity, this arc will serve as foreshadowing for the "Return to AU" arc that will be happening at some point down the line.
Do I have to take part in "PMD-B"?
No, you don't have to take part in PMD-B if you don't feel like it. And even if you do, participatns will be able to move back and forth between both universes easily.
When does this arc start?
That still hasn't been decided yet. At the time of this post, the start date is currently set at "some time this week." This should be decided on soon, hopefully.
Okay, that's pretty much everything. If there's still anything that needs to be decided on, post it here to let us know.

Hey, I'm fairly new to the role-play boards, and I wanted to see if I could join this one.
Sorry about the post I posted before this, I have a nasty habit of not reading the freaking manual before I start doing stuff. I really need to break that habit...
