Kanjoh Arc Repost and Call for Interest
OK, since some of us are going to Sinnoh for an invasion of Spiritombs, mages, zombies and what not in the regionand save it from destruction, hecatomb and oblivion, the idea is that some of us who are not getting anywhere near all of that and want to play a calmer, looser plot are not left without anything to do (as has happened with tournament arcs, saving the world battles and all that).
As has been discussed before for that purpose I'll be more-or-less GM'ing a Johto Kanjoh Arc, concurrent to IK Arc. It will be mostly an exploratory, episodic arc for people who want to have something to do; at the same time it'll provide opportunity for interaction and skills testing, in particular in the sideline and focus-spreading front.
The arc proper should begin tomorrow (theoretically could begin today). It will be focused mostly on us actually getting to play the various strands of worldbuilding we have done, not just in terms of Kanjoh but also character development and "the world is not just the J-Team™" (ie.: families, interaction, shipping!). There will be no region-ending threat or worse, nor will any encompassing threat directly affect Johto. At worst we'll be facing sunburn taxes Hoppips!
Of course, for this arc to carry on it needs people, as in players, as in plural, to participate. Otherwise it becomes a fanfic. Hence I'm leaving here the invitation. Read the details that follow and comment on whether you'd sign in, when/why, and more importantly what for (ie.: what do you want to get from the arc).
Arc Planning
The "main" plotline during the arc will be a sort of "man v/s the system" — getting us to roam the region and fight our hard-earned region-threatening reputation by doing o one thing that the anime focus on pretty well: visiting from place to place, bringing up an increase in the quality of life where we go, then depart to the sunset for the next adventure. A theoretical second, more direct plotline could be added in as well, but that requires more player discussion.
Across the region(s) we will be run into different environments where we can carry out several small missions of the "help the populace" kind, or we can come up with our own missions and adventures as eg.: Rex has done. In a way, planning for this, even if you don't participate, could help later on when designing missions for the PMD arc(s).
Some of the environments and situations we could meet include, but obviously not limited or required, to:
- Having a small, low-stakes, for fun and sportmonship Pokéringer or similar competition somewhere in the region. It could improve our reputation a lot.
- The Union Cave will be swarmed by some Pokémon, among them a particularly pesky Makuhita.
- The town of Bloomingvale, which I've moved from the Rt.32 plains to the coast, needs better docks built in order to improve the activity for fishermen (I mean, come one, you have a guy there with six Magikarp...) and facilitate contact with other locations.
- Witnessing the festival wild Quagsire carry out at Blue Moon Falls, for purposes of research/fun/emotional linking/whatever.
- Getting to finally visit Calino's multiversal herb trade shop near Goldenrod, for the purposes of (adequately!) introducing foreign herbs, making friends, etc.
- Getting to study the migration of Hoppip or any Johto mons for which we still need a PEFE article or there is one in the writing.
- Probably visiting one or two Legendary friends in Greenfield (location of the third movie).
- Visiting characters's families or relatives in Johto and Kanto, and with this I mean both human and mon characters. Might we meet Lake's family
and discover he is Treeo's dad? Will Jemma own all of us once we go visit Rex's house (a surprise visit of course)? Are the Goldenrod Murkrow murders planning anything, or speaking stylish swahili? - Visit other interesting characters as well! Do really all of the Rt.32 Mareep have wool-related names? Is Falkner's dad anywhere? Did Zen Gardener Tyranitar ever manage to build his own garden in the Viridian Gym? Might for some reason the Sinnoh Battle Frontier be moving to Johto?
- What adventures can we find in places such as the untamed region affectionately called "Firuzland"? Or the mysterious island somewhere in the sea of Kanto? We could get ourselves ready to eventually explore a new region, even if we don't do it now (or in quite some generations to come)...
- Teala and Pierce will be given some training at the Nidoran Colony. Other characters could go visit of course.
- What would Team Glacier think of the Ice Path? Would the nearby settlements like to have an airship stationed there? It could ruin the landscape's selling value!
- An idea I did not remember to explore last time - any chance we can play a Anime!Sabrina miniplot? You know the one, little doll~
- Taking a Gym Challenge for those who want to is also a choice of course, after all the NPCs will be there.
Timeline
If needed be, and considering how Hoenn was extended as well and March is coming, the arc can be extended to last more or less as much as it is necessary so that we clean it well, without rushing into decisions that we come to regret as it has happened already. Also, between RL and RP planning, it should be possible to play most scenarios with a floating timeline and many conveniences. My personal expectation is that, barring RL and timezones getting in the way of our interactions, the arc should be able to healthily last for the entirely of the month of March.
However there will be some concerns. The most important for me is that I expect to be quite absent during at least three weeks of April, due to yet again taking over a nationwide event. That means I'll require an assistant GM in case the arc lasts that long. The person willing to sign up for the position needs to fullfill some requirements in the planning department though, because I don't want to come back to find the arc aborted or worse, derailed into a Let's Save the World. Will send an offer with details once I know more about my own RL schedule.
I can has Kanjoh?
Yes you can has. Just let me know in the creative chatroom or by posting here. You don't even need to sign your usual character - if you want to go to Sinnoh but still play Kanjoh, send your NPC or some boxed member of your team in! Give the world some screentime!
And even if you don't want to has Kanjoh, you are welcome to participate in development as mentioned above.
Thoughts, Questions and Concerns
Have any? Chime in as well.

I may have Lazy Latios take part. That, and Tornadus and Thundurus, if you wouldn't rather have those two MST Infinity Keystone.
Edit: I'm thinking of having LL go to one and T+T going to the other- I'm not sure who should go where, though.

Contact Me!I'll think about it. Wolf is definitely going to Sinnoh, but I don't know what to do with Katie yet. This seems like a good opportunity to work on her Trainer skills, but it's been a while since she's been anywhere near her brother, so I'm undecided.
If not Katie, then Steven. He'll going wherever she doesn't.
We are already in the process of splitting non-recurring characters, etc. Will commence a more complete split process myself.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?I've got a 5 day weekend, but I still have a little work to do. Still, I think I would like to go to Sinnoh. That is, if someone could give me a really quick overview of what we're doing there. (Plus, isn't that where we find Crewe?)

As of 2012-02-15, our Characters page was the larges page in the wiki
, surpassing Harry Potter, Berserk, etc. A great moment. However, it also came with a cost for the TV Tropes servers, and for this reason, as well as a better organization, the page is being split.
Currently, the Characters page will be split in five parts:
The transfer progress is still incomplete and I'll be working on it for a while. Once it is done though, there is still the matter of splitting the main characters into A-Z subgroups or other convenient criteria.
Actually, this is a good time to repeat my proposal of moving the actual character info to a wiki proper (WAAPTWiki?) and leaving the characters page for what is intended to — tropes. But that will require far more technical preparation, so I'm just leaving it here as a thought.
_Good work, people!_
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?DS: excellent idea, we could pretty much have an "empty" (content wise) characters page... and subindex the hell out of it!
Wait. . . does that mean we beat Buffy The Vampire Slayer AND the Doctor Who pages? 'Cause that doesn't sound right.
Also, I meant don't we find Crewe in the keystone arc of something in Sinnoh.

We Are All That Awesome.
The fact that the characters page was more or less our characters information wiki did help.
We didn't have more than 240k characters in the Characters page. We did have lots of formatting though, which might have contributed to the slowness and server load.
