Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Is Dug Too Deep exclusively about the "miners release or wake up Sealed Evil in a Can" situation, or can it apply to any case where overly curious/greedy behavior is responsible for releasing aforesaid Sealed Evil in a Can?

I think overly curious is something different, but I can't remember the name of it.

Yes, I'd say it's exclusively about accidentally digging up ancient horrors and such. The first sentence of the description is "A mining operation unleashes the Sealed Evil in a Can" and all (or at the very least the vast majority of) the examples appear to involve mining or digging.

The mining isn't necessarily curious or greedy, it's just digging. The trope is about buried evils being dug up from the ground, the metaphorical bits are entirely secondary.
