Unless Entrepreneurs secretly have economic/magic powers that are innate;the best we can hope for is a bittersweet ending. Because there is no way in hell that masters of the Finacial District would let their power be used against them; then again a Faustian Rebellion by the Entres would be cool!
The only way that there care can be a good ending is by killing/bankrupting Masakaki, then going after what most certainly is his Eldritch Abomination of a boss; this can only happen if Entres have their own power.
Episode 8 The Bleep has officially hit the fan. the Japanese Financial District is going bankrupt and is going to take all of japan with it. Not only that Financial Districts have collapsed before. And if my eye do not deceive me they take the country everyone and everything in them; including the landmass! Holy shit!
. The most important thing we learned this episode is what beings behind the Financial District want; to consume the world and everything in it.

" Magic is a method of talking to the universe in words that it cannot ignore."a) Did anyone read the spoilered part of my post? Because it addresses a couple of the things being talked about
b) No one is making the connection between Yoga's father going bankrupt, his memory of having a little sister, and Msyu? Because the connection seems fairly obvious to me. It will probably be explained in-show, but if the collateral the FD takes can be used for other purposes... I'm not sure I want to think it through that much, because the next question that comes to mind is " What would you use a country-sized chunk of collateral for?"

Spoiler that, man.
Maybe Yoga's a new breed? He seems to be the only entre in history that cares more for a future than for money. Also, Guess we've got why Mikuni's an antagonist..
Wonder what plan "C" is?
More food for thought: Hanabi got a relatively large amount of screen time. IT seems the theory she too is an entre is not so far off...
Random note: Who else thinks a Money and Soul game would be kickass? Discuss style of play for it. (Freeroam RPG, FPS, etc.)

Yeah, I caught that. What would they do with that much collateral? This is starting to reek of Reapers.
Sandbox, with countdowns to each Deal during which you're allowed to explore and such.
It would have to be a tabletop RPG. I was thinking a MMORPG first, but there are just too many aspects that would have to be personalized/fluid. The character and asset creation would be fine, but the asset's abilities need to be personalized. And there would have to be a real-world aspect where you can see the effects of what happens in the FD. Way too complex to fit into a game program.
Now, if it was a game with a set path... an RP Glike Persona would work. You could chose how often you went to the FD, watch other people's "Deals," Have the landscape change as the game moves on, etc.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Okay, I think I finally understand what the Midas Bank gets out of all this.
You see, the thing was bothering me is that they got a huge amount of influence out of all this, but absolutely zero control. But now I get it.
The Bank turns people's future into money, right? So what they get out of it is the future. The whole thing is run by a friccken' Eldritch Abomination who's taking people's futures in exchange for something which will have no value if the future loss happens on a wide enough scale. It's not hard to think of way a creative Abomination could profit from a set-up like that.
Also, Futureshipping just got all incest-y. Boo.

Nobilis. If you want to play C on the tabletop, it has to be Nobilis. I know this, because I just spent that last episode saying "Oh god, it's turned into Nobilis" over and over.
Unrelated thought: If the humanlike assets are made from people who got taken as collateral, where do the one that look like aliens/monsters/robots come from? Conclusion: Either the Financial District has franchises on multiple planets, or the world was a hella strange place before Atlantis went bankrupt.

Well, seeing as What the Higher-ups in the bank look like, It's not too much of a stretch to consider that the non-humanoid assets are actual demons.
Also, great theory on humanoid assets.
BYOON~!So, I just finished watching Episode 8.
JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST.
I didn't believe the guys on animesuki when they said that C was going to out-Urobuchi Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
I believe them now.
SINGAPORE IS GETTING MOTHERFUCKING EATEN BY THE ECONOMICS CTHULHU.
Made especially creepy by the fact that I was in Singapore a few months ago, and I recognized some of those buildings.
Seriously, going from that ending to "RPG" by School Food Punishment has got to be the most spectacular case of Mood Whiplash in recent memory.
In other news, turns out Taketazaki DOES have a day job. And he sells crepes, of all things.
But you want to see something even more creepy? Look at Mikuni's card. [1]

I'm actually going to be disappointed if we don't get a Gainax Ending at this point. Shit went down so fast it just reeks of Anno/Urobochi tactics.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialOkay, so... tell me if I've got this straight: Mikuni believes that the Midas Bank cannot be stopped, so he uses his guild to minimize its negative effects on reality and use its power to make the world a better place whenever possible. Sennoza, on the other hand, appears to believe any future built on Black Bills to be a false one, but is already sucked in too deep to really make a difference. Events have shown that the Financial District cannot be controlled as neatly as Mikuni believes, but the jury's still out on whether it can be stopped at all.
The reason for my asking is that the heavily metaphor-laden dialogue in the past few episodes seemed to communicate something different. They make a big deal out of Mikuni's "way" and Sennoza's "way", but as I recall Sennoza didn't have a "way": he could only afford to buy his way out of Deals because he was already filthy rich. That's not a sustainable basis for resistance against the Midas Group.
Please be gentle with me.Since human!Msyu probably wouldn't have demon horns, I'd advice against trying to interpret the Asset's appearance's too literally. The non-humanoid assets don't have to represent aliens or anything like that, they could basically be anything but a person. Like, a business, a research breakthrough, an invention, a house, etc.
For example, Sennoza was a philanthropist, his future was the lives of children in impoverished counties and such like, and his Asset was an Angel. The symbolism is pretty clear, with no need to appeal to the supernatural.

Hi :o here's a guess
Since it's said that Assets are the Entre's lost future there could be multiple types of Assets, Human-like assets like Q and Msyu represent the loss of the possibility of being with a person (May it be brother and sister relationship to Husband and wife, etc)while others like demon-like or monster-like may represent lost personality or physical trait. If this is true the fact that Msyu and Q seem to "Recognize" each other may just be them feeling similar in the type of "future" they are made of..
As for how which lost future is chosen to be their asset (since everyone probably lost a lot of possibilities as they pick choices in life) the future chosen to be their asset could represent what money meant to them or what they truly want to use money for like how Q probably represents Mikuni's sister. While other types of Assets may represent greed, envy, gluttony, etc

Well, given all the negative-nancies around here, I think its time for some good old fashion cutesy images!
Only one so far, but it's a doozy! (NSFW ads, SFW image. I swear.)
Here you go, all your daily "C" cuteness in one convenient package!

BYOON~!Ironically, I've found that I enjoy the setting and the concepts behind the anime a lot more than the main character. Yoga's...kind of a wuss, and some of his actions (Like burning the Midas Money) seem rather counterintuitive to me. I'm also not sure how Yoga's going to rely on the 'trust in the future', or to win matches without using any funds. I mean without investments in your Assets, all you basically have are Directs. (Which might cost around a 1,000 Yen a pop, though I might be wrong.)
I really hope it doesn't end with Yoga making a shonen speech about the power of miracles, and the Entres of the FD investing their Midas Money in him so he can beat Mikuni. Jennifer might be able to give him the support he needs, but it's a little frustrating to see how, after eight episodes, the plot is still basically happening around him rather than to him.
What's so ironic about that? It's not like all stories revolve around a single main character. Yoga really is just some guy who happens to have lots of important people around him, and will probably only be of great importance in the end game.
Anyway, this episode really did a great job in heightening the tension. Like, damn. I was actually surprised that this was just the eighth episode. So, thoughts:
- Since Q looks like Mikuni's sister and Msyu probably looks like Yoga's daughter... well, that partly explains how exactly Assets are the embodiment of an Entre's future. But then Msyu seems to have been an Asset before... so is it possible that Msyu is actually Yoga's retconned sister?
- I seriously have no idea on how things will go down. Gainax Ending, here we come!
- The higher-ups really are Eldritch Abominations. Cool. But what do they want? Why take the future first? They'll probably never explain.

What he just did had value - he didn't hurt the District, but he signed himself out as an Entre, rendering it impossible for him to use the Deals as a get-rich-quick scheme and avoiding damage to his future that might have been caused by spending that money on somethng (what's the District going to take if he goes bankrupt, ashes?). He has other ways to make money - they're just not as potentially lucrative in the short-term.
Plus, he now knows how to hurt the District - you have to hit it right in the trust. Devalue Midas Money. And it seems like Jen has a plan for exactly that.
Come to think of it, destroying Mikuni's [C] funds might have an effect. At the very least, it would deny the higher-ups any futures he's going toi sacrifice by spending them.

What's precedent ever done for us?I'm not sure if I get it. If I withdraw my money from a bank, and then destroy the money, the bank doesn't care. I still have to pay back my loan, regardless, and the bank seizes all my property if I go bankrupt anyway.
In this case, the FD already has the 'collateral'- His future. He's just hampering himself. From what I've seen so far, what the FD really wants is to consume large chunks of the future; On a small scale with the Entres, to a massive scale when the region is undermined. Yoga's effectively unloaded his weapon and thrown away all the bullets- The FD doesn't care if he goes bankrupt; The system actually expects Entres to get wiped out at some point. Besides, I got the impression that the bank can *always* print more Midas Money. Destroying all the cash he's acquired, thus far, isn't exactly a solution. He's just made it even harder for himself to, you know, do anything.
Also, I'm surprised there isn't more interest in the RP thus far. Admittedly, offhand, I could only think of Invisible Hand and Cluster as potential Flation names. (Also, are all Flations named differently? Msyu's Mezzo is Scorched Earth, but her Micro isn't named...However, Gig had Bulk Sale as the name for his Micro. The old guy only seemed to use Pac-Man Defense, which was admittedly very effective.) I confess that the fights were a main draw for me, and it's a little frustrating for them to start taking a back seat. Especially when it's the main way for someone to act affirmatively. (I'm pretty sure the glasses-guy will probably abscond with [C] in the next episode.)

I guess so. And yeah, that was more than likely the "higher ups" Masakaki referred to
