This thread is to request that a locked article be unlocked. Please read the guidelines below before making a request.
- Please see Locked Pages and Permanent Redlink Club first. If an article is on the Permanent Redlink Club, it will not be unlocked, ever.
- Pages cut a while ago were automatically locked. Before asking for an unlock, make sure that the article you want to create is in the proper Namespace, has gone through YKTTW if it's a trope, and otherwise fulfills our guidelines for Creating New Pages.
- If you just want to make an edit to an article, post here
instead.
- Don't ask for new Main redirects. Those are only for old articles with lots of existing inbounds.
Original post
I'll start it off: could someone please unlock Hootie And The Blowfish so I can make a new page on it? The last page was cut for being copypasta from Wikipedia.

I agree that most of the "Horrible" material is cross-grained to this wiki's purposes; one couldn't fault the mods for discontinuing it. And I'm not trying to justify or excuse its presence when I observe that lots of it can be uncommonly entertaining (and not just to the baser types among us).
However, its raw entertainment value does make one hope that the content doesn't utterly evaporate from the Web. If the mods decide to put the kibosh on it, is there some form or location in which the wiki owners would be okay with its survival?
Our only concern with the material being used off-site is the Creative Commons licensing. Within that limitation you can do whatever you want with it. When we cut Troper Tales, Fetish Fuel, and the It Just Bugs Me forum, some enterprising tropers started their own sites for the material. Nightmare Fuel and the Horrible pages (which have not been cut, mind you) are no different.
We specifically disclaim any affiliation with those sites, though.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"How far removed is the wiki software from mainline PmWiki? Is setting up a fork as easy as adding published Pm Wiki extensions (aka "Recipes")? Or would you recommend making a script to translate TV Tropes markup into MediaWiki markup instead?
We are now 99.99% divergent from pmwiki. Any script to translate the wiki to another format would be custom. Anyway, this is off topic. Please start a different thread if you want to discuss it.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Can you bring back the examples for Accidental Nightmare Fuel but put them on a separate page? I know that the original page was misused but many of the examples had subpages that were well liked. There could be a page called Scary Moments like Awesome Moments and Funny Moments. If there is an issue over High Octane Nightmare Fuel then could there be a vote over possibly merging the two to make a Scary Moments page?

ummm hi
AFAIK, we're gonna merge HONF with Nightmare Fuel, rename it to the latter, and give the whole thing the same treatment as the "Moments" tabs. Keeping my ears to the ground for more details.
We are not going to bring back Accidental Nightmare Fuel in any way, shape, or form. Fun is not the issue. The complete unmanageability of the pages is the issue.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, the problem with Accidental Nightmare Fuel is that it's really not in the same spirit as Awesome/, Funny/, Heartwarming/, and TearJerker/. They're more like mildly-scary-but-not-too-scary moments. In that case, we might as well have a Meh Moments subpage.

We have the Crowning Moment of Indifference...
I know, it's entirely a joke page.

I now go by Graf von Tirol.Oh, I didn't know that.
We probably shouldn't have it as a subpage for work pages, though. Too much potential for Flame Bait.
Could you unlock WebVideo.Four Blokes Without Telly? Apparently, I had accidentally put that page on the cutlist. That is, of course, if it's not objectionable.
Unlocked.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThis is really tentative, given that That Guy With The Glasses is also locked, but am I right in reading that the person who edit warred and diluted examples the most on DethroningMoment.Zero Punctuation has been banned? If so, would that allow an unlock?
Still going to bring this
up as long as the animated film is still in the wrong namespace.
Septimus, if you're willing to curate those articles, I can consider unlocking them, but they have a very large hatedom and it's going to be a big job for you. You sure about this?
Unlocked that one.

We want to encourage people to use the proper namespace when they construct links. Main.Speed has 14 inbounds, which makes it eligible for a redirect, however, so I'll go ahead and do that.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Given that there is a hefty amount of RL life work waiting for me in the future (and not enought ime left for curating such pages), it's probably better to keep it closed. I'll rescind the request.
Good day to you sirs. I was hoping to just ask why the Fate Stay Night page suddenly getting emptied and locked; and if the proposal be reasonable, that said page be unlocked. The discussions and trope edits in the page don't really seem to be harmful.
Hoping for your consideration, thanks!
Noted sir, thanks.
Just found out about the Google Incident (first and second) from that other board.
It's quite disappointing, this whole thing. So many potentially good stories have to be expunged for having just a smidget of pornographic content in one or two adaptations of it.
As a suggestion (I can't post this there since the board has been locked), maybe the committee should also consider the "cleanliness"/"chasteness" of certain Bleached Underpants adaptations of works with unsafe content as an additional criterion for allowing its page to stay. I have seen certain pages for works with a separate page for its adaptation - maybe the committee can look further into this.
That aside, as a noob to this wiki, I appreciate the effort you are all putting towards sustaining this web-community. Hopefully, compliance is achieved where it is due without having to sacrifice troper education.

We are not bringing back the Windows article, because it is not relevant to the wiki. You can list PC games on the appropriate indexes. We gain nothing by having articles on operating systems.
