So, as a counterpoint to the other thread, this is where we talk about entries that we find incredibly amusing and intelligent. To start us out, I present the entirety of Real Life, which had me cracking up when I first read it.

I used to get a laugh from how the Yuri page said "this genre is less popular than Yaoi", then had an examples section about twice as long as the Yaoi one. However, the discrepancy is gone now, so it's not so funny any more.

I just noticed this way down at the bottom of Comes Great Responsibility, in the Real Life section:

German physicist Georg Ohm never forgot the words of his dying uncle who told him, "With great Power comes Great Current squared times Resistance" and crafted that wisdom into the foundation of modern electrical engineering. Translated that means that with high levels of Power one has the Responsibility to deal with the waste heat if one doesn't want their device to burn up.

On Canon Defilement on the Starkits prophcy YMMV page.

"The actual books feature a lot of Gray and Grey Morality, and the authors make a point out of avoiding Card Carrying Villains and giving all villainous characters fleshed out motives. This fic? "lol" lalueghed Tiger Star, "I dont care Im evillll!""

From The Thing:

Getting Crap Past the Radar: The initial cut was so gory that test audiences complained of nausea. John Carpenter alleviated this by changing nothing.

Briefer Than They Think:

The Regency only lasted 9 years, from 1811-20. Yet according to the romance novel industry, at least half of England's peerage and gentry must have gotten married during this time.

For future refference, this was about deleting some complaint about the fic along the lines of (or rather, exactly quoted as) "MY CHILDHOOD! IT BURNS!!!!":

Unnecessary. No one cares about your childhood.

There is something silly about a Guide Dang It! page devoted solely to game guides. Although I wouldn't call them entirely useless; the maps come in handy, at least.

This one from the Homestuck Wild Mass Guessing page kills me.

Wait, no, the next session will have two players: Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff. They will play a game of SBAHJ, where they will find out that Sweet Bro is the Bro of Time and Hella Jeff is the Jeff of Space. Sweet Bro's guardian is his mom, Jeff's is Geromy, and the imps will (after an ill-advised prototyping with... I dunno, a stuffed squirrel or some such) take on the form of squirrels that try to steal their game discs. Jeff will dream on Prospit, where Skaia's clouds will show him visions where he is the star (it's him) and he has to challenge the Big Man (the Black King). Meanwhile, Sweet Bro, the Derse dreamer, will fall under the control of the horrorterrors (hot gods) and do their bidding (put... jelly on them. Whatever). Jeff will use the sockkind abstratus, with which he will create....... DISTACTIONS, while Bro will attempt to use both rulerkind and spoonkind but utterly fail to get the hang of either... man, I could go on for hours.

There's some very clever formatting at this recap page. Just click on all of the hottips.

The Doctor Who recap pages in general are very troper-friendly; almost none of them go by without some kind of humorous and/or snarky comment. The Matt Smith era probably has the best ones, though.

This is why they had to get Al Capone on tax evasion; everything worse that he'd done, he'd managed to squeazle his way out of. The taxes were the only thing the authorities could actually make stick.

Squeazle. I doubt it's an actual word, but it ought to be.

The former entry on Worse Than It Sounds for Toy Story:

  • An exploration of male jealousy and atheism. When an ageing unbeliever is accused of murdering a young member of his community who believes strongly in a higher power, he must prove his innocence to be accepted again. They are captured by a sadist who tortures them graphically, leaving one facially scarred, and as the believer loses his faith, he suffers a mental breakdown, mutilates himself, and is publicly humiliated in front of women. The only way of freeing themselves is by traumatising their captor in equal measure, and to detonate an explosive attached to one of them.

This from the Crowning Moment Of Funny page for Doctor Who:

"Smith and Jones" features a plasmavore who drinks blood through a bendy straw.
  • When that wasn't busy being Nightmare Fuel Unleaded.
  • How the HELL does this series keep managing to be both of those so damned often???
  • Wibbley-wobbley spooky-funny....stuff. Naturally.
