Wow, yet another all red crowner...
... Has it ever been in the Green? Because if it stays red all week, we'll just leave the trope imageless and be done.
Then again, it could just be trolls.
I decided to change my vote from "against" the Family Circus one to "for" it. That way we'll have at least one example in the green and it won't be that visual pun...
EDIT: In hindsight it's a more clever example than my Archie Sonic one was anyway.

Bump for more votes.
Okay, those of you in favour of the visual pun, please explain your reasoning.
Why shouldn't we use a Visual Pun as an image for a trope about puns?

Because it's silly and misleading and just plain pointless? Also, that most pages don't have visual puns makes it inconsistent for a few of them to arbitrarily have them.
If it were up to me, visual puns would be off limits altogether.
I would disagree...a punny image (like a visual pun) I think is hilarious for a this trope.
And the swirly pun all over the hurricane looks good. And just how would it be misleading?
There is the entire trope page for people to read...just how dumb do you think people are? Because if that was the case than all visual pun images apparently should immediately be banned because they might be "misleading"...because apparently the general public is too stupid to read the trope.

I find the puns in the Family Circus one funnier.

And yet, people often don't read it. See also Complete Monster and Moral Event Horizon for examples of pages whose descriptions many users evidently don't read.
Even when they do read it, often times a bad image can give a wrong first impression. Someone might not think it a literal hurricane, but one might mistake it for being a trope about puns having physical effects for magical and/or technological reasons or something, sort of like Cartman's swearing did later in the South Park movie. You never know what impression it might give.

Well, different pages might have different reasons for or against different kinds of visual puns. So there's a difference between being against a visual pun here and treating them as off-limits altogether... note that I've already stated that we'd be going with the latter if it were up to me, though. I'm just saying there is a difference.

Well... yeah. That or lazy.

Bump to start the weekend voting...as of right now:
Everything else is 0 or negative.
The crowner's only move since the last post was for the leader to get a + vote, so I think we're done here. The new pic is up, potholed to Visual Pun, captioned (hopefully I did the trope justice), and tagged; the other crowner options are on an Image Links page. Locking this up.
