Maybe I'm just being dense, but for the life of me I can't figure out what the difference between these two tropes is. OOO's description seems to be saying that it takes place in office settings where all the main characters are co-workers, but if that's the case it's not borne out in the examples. The fact that neither page mentions the other makes me think whoever made one didn't know the other already existed. What do you guys think?

Based on the descriptions, I think the distinction is supposed to be:

  • Obliquely Obfuscated Occupation is about characters who have generic jobs that aren't supposed to be important to the plot.
  • What, Exactly, Is His Job? is about characters who are on a team where you'd expect everyone to have a specific job, and there's no job that seems to fit them.

There's a ton of example overlap, though. If you believe my schema, it mostly seems to be things on WEIHJ that belong on OOO instead.

132 is the rudest number.
