Not the point. It's still more free bonus content than you'd get off any other film release not to mention the movie is free to view on-demand.
1. There is nothing stopping any other contributor from bringing the number of commentaries up to four.
2. The bloopers will probably be up on You Tube the second the DVD hits mailboxes anyway.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I feel like that's taking money from them though.
I mean all the reviews are on You Tube. Hell KNIGHTS is on Youtube. But we watch it on Blip to pay them.
I honestly don't get complaints about people saying TGWTG are hypocrites for criticizing good films while not making a good one themselves. In addition to the fact that they had to shoot it in four days under bad weather conditions, it's like fans booing basketball players when they can't play well themselves. Plus, there are three facts to consider.
First of all, just because anything they make is bad doesn't change the fact that the films they criticize are bad. Second, a lot of the films they say are bad are films they actually like, mostly because of their badness. Third, a lot of the site actually encourages people to watch the stuff they review just to see how bad they are.
I like Suburban Knights, despite its flaws, mostly because it's these guys doing the entire quest (along with the fact that the raw story material is pretty good). It's just fun to watch them, and that's all I need.
I'm also an anime blogger.Glad they waited. I honestly can't see how that would've fit into Kickassia.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. So, I just got my Suburban Knights DVD the other day and I've gone through most of the bonus features. Assorted thoughts:
- The making-of was pretty cool, although there were some scenes that could've been shortened and there wasn't a whole lot we didn't already know about. Highlights:
- Doug doing a Heroic BSoD when Bhargav asks him how he's doing—before anyone's even arrived. He then upbeatly informs Bhargav that he's fine.
- We caught glimpses of filming the Warrior #4 review. Apparently Lewis's Green Ranger get-up is involved somehow.
- A very frank discussion between Doug, Rob, Mike and Bhargav regarding whether or not to cut their losses by turning the shoot into a mockumentary and what doing so would say about them as a business.
- Most of us weren't far off with the murder mystery thing—improving one was one of their back-up plans if shooting went south.
- The rest of the gang talking about how taking votes on continuing filming would be a waste of time, followed by Lewis improving a legit Rousing Speech while the others do "Hail to the Chief" in a cappella in the background.
- The bloopers and deleted scenes weren't all that great. I suspect they edited it down to fit on the DVD and made some quite unwise cuts. Otherwise, these guy's on-the-spot improv skills have gone down drastically. Most of the bloopers were of the "spontaneous laughter" assortment. And Spoony's alternate takes of the "+2 Magic! +2 Magic!" scene were not included.
- NC & Bum Search for the Necronomicon was mildly entertaining, but only five minutes and a lot of it was the Bum bitching about how NC hadn't tagged along which got a bit old. They never do find it.
I haven't watched the commentaries yet, but when I do I'll check back in.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Watching the commentaries now. I'll do a longer bit later but something jumped out at me—for all of you who have been talking about how he can't hide behind time crunches and writing restrictions, he says he basically feels like everyone involved with these things is doing him a favor which is why he always tries to rush and whatnot—to make things as convenient for everyone else as he can. And now that he knows that the producers are all just as invested as he is, he's going to invest time and money in it properly as opposed to making them kind of slapdash. Hopefully this will mean recruiting the cast ahead of time instead of with just a quick email a few months before, which will result in the script being less rushed since he knows who's showing up.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. For those that are curious but broke, here are the two bonus endings—not alternate endings, mind you, tacked on after the "OH MY GOD I WON A CAR!" bit.
One is not really plot relevant, but I'm spoiler-tagging it just in case people want to be surprised: pan up from the Bum and into a Special Effects Failure version of space for a mock-up of the Star Trek opening, with Ma-Ti monologuing about reviewing from inside his oatmeal can.
The other is post-credits and fairly relevant to the plot: the Power Glove and gem survived under a pile of rubble and are picked up by someone from off-screen. It's pretty blatantly Mechakara, what with the jacket sleeve and glove and mechanical laugh, so I dunno why they don't just show him. Judging by the commentary and the "CONTINUED IN 2012" tag, this has implications for next year's anniversary rather than just Atop the Fourth Wall.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. As someone who really got tired of the whole "Linkara is the center of everything ever" style of AT 4 W and doesn't really want that in the anniversaries, I can foresee tantrums.

When was the last time you saw a movie with free bonus features online instead of on the DVD? We have three free commentary tracks. Three. Fans of other franchises should only be so lucky.
