Sakura had been silent up to this point, trying to take everything in. She didn't believe the Sentai spiel they were giving the kids, but she had figured that it must be important.
"...Why not? We're all here, it's not like we can run away and tell other people about whatever we're here for at this point." She finally speaks up, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Akihiko's response was a mere shrug. He didn't actually know why he couldn't tell them yet, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to anyway.
There was a door at the end of the hallway. It was deceptively commonplace, it looked no different then the other doors found throughout the halls. Of course. As the candidates drew close, the door slide open automatically.
"Please look to the left," said the Captain simply, smiling faintly. "You'll see why you're here."
There was a set of windows, showing five different chambers, one through each window. There were numerous computer screens displaying various readouts on what was within the chambers, and a small army of NERV technicians occupied the room. There was also a door on the other side of the room, the appeared to allow access to the chambers if it was needed.
All of this, however, was nothing compared to what occupied the chambers.
In each chamber stood an armored giant, a massive and apparently robotic construction. They were smooth, and aerodynamic-looking. They each had large fins jutting from the back of their shoulders.
From right to left, each one was a different color, starting with orange, then purple, then red, then black, then white. They were all truly huge. Every one of them had slightly different facial structures. The purple one, for example, had a horn jutting from the "forehead", while the red one appeared to have two pairs of eyes.
"The Evangelions," said the Captain, gesturing to the giant robots. "Humanity's secret weapons."
Akihiko looked at this amazing sight with what seemed to be mild interest, as if it was something he was interested in, but had seen before. He seemed mostly focused on the orange Evangelion.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Sakura's eyes go wide with shock, her mouth drops open in awe. "Holy shit..." She walks forward, slowly, as if in a dream, until her nose is pressed against the glass of the room containing the purple mech. "Holy shit..."
She looks it up and down, trying to process what she's looking at. "That... That's a..."
"Holy shit, do we get to pilot these things?!"
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Sayu was reduced to a jaw-dropped, awe-struck mess.
She was stunned by the size, the beauty of the robots. They looked very complex, and they were real. They were standing their, in real life. They weren't from a show, they were there. And she was going to pilot one.
"Oh. My. God."
Yuki's eyes were drawn to the white one, and ran to try to get a closer look at it, this machine...this wonderful death machine...he had to pilot it, he had to crush something with it! A huge grin plastered itself on his face, these things were one hell of a secret weapon! He wanted to try it out NOW! But...what kind of enemies would this group be fighting? Well, whatever they were fighting, it must be pretty big. And the tougher the fight, that meant the more fun it would be.
This was no trifling show, this was a real war he would be participating in.

"Yes you do, you lucky little girl!" Kazumi grabbed Sakura's shoulders from behind, and only a tiny twinge of jealousy entered her playful tone. "Be sure to think up a cool battlecry, or I won't forgive you!"
Sakura doesn't even move when Kazumi grabs her; she merely continues staring straight ahead, awestruck.
"Cool... battlecry...?"
This is quite possibly the greatest thing Sakura has ever seen in her life.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Today was going to be different. When she woke up within the usual empty confines of her parent's on-site quarters, Haruko didn't have her daily routine in mind. Sure, she got up, showered, brushed her teeth, and got ready for the coming day. But she had no intention of stepping foot on the streets of Tokyo-3.
Not when the Evangelion pilots were due to make their first official appearance within the halls of NERV.
With a skip in her step she departed the staff quarters, glancing at her watch to check the time. Eh. Probably a little later than she planned to be. Though when the fact that she wasn't officially supposed to be lurking around the candidates was taken into account, being late really didn't faze her all that much. There was big trouble in store if her parents found out she hadn't gone to school. Though really, how they expected her to when an occasion like this was happening was beyond any sort of logic she personally subscribed to.
After grabbing a ride on one of the monorails (where she had a chat with a still sleepy NERV personnel member), she finally made it — "it" being a hallway that contained a small, shadowy nook that she was just able to squeeze in without any injury to herself. From here she would have a near perfect vantage point of the pilots as they went by...
"That's why you're here."
Surprisingly, it was Akihiko who answered, before the Captain could respond.
"I've tested Unit-00," he continued, as if it was something fairly commonplace. He didn't once take his eyes off of the orange Evangelion, the one that was presumably Unit-00.
The Captain nodded. "Akihiko's right. You've been taken here with the intention of testing, and in the future piloting, the Evangelions. The tests will begin shortly. In the mean time, I'll show you to the changing rooms, so you can change into your plugsuits."

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Sakura seems to be fairly quivering with excitement.
"Why? Why do you need us? Which one do I get to pilot? How do they work? Is it dangerous? What are we fighting?"
All apprehension seems to have vanished; she seems really into the whole thing now.
"What's a plugsuit?"

(Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens."We'll be informing you which Evangelions you'll be testing after you've changed," the Captain answered. "As for plugsuits, they're an important part of piloting an Evangelion, from what I understand. You'll have to change into them. Follow me."
The captain headed for the door at the other side of the room. After passing through, the teenagers would see one door on the left, and two doors, changing rooms for men and women, to the right.
Akihiko wordlessly proceeded into the men's changing room.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up.""...Awkward latex uniform?"
Sakura finally manages to tear her eyes away from the awesome giant robot and turn to follow.
When they get to the changing rooms, she reluctantly heads into the women's changing room, looking slightly apprehensive as to what they'd make her wear.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Yuki ran hurriedly into the men's changing room, Akihiko would be in there...this would be a very good chance! He smirked as he entered, looking around for two things: One, his Plug Suit, and Two, Akihiko potentially being less clothed.
These piloting suits...he had a number of ideas how they would look.
edited 10th Apr '11 7:23:05 PM by NickTheSwing
Once entering the changing rooms, the teenagers would see racks of what appeared to be strange, bulky suits. In the women's changing room, there was a blue one labled '01', which also had a lable near it's rack, stating that it was intended for Sakura. There was a red suit for Sayu, and finally a second blue suit with darker portions then Sakura's suit for Kei.
In the men's changing room, there was a yellow suit for Yuki.
Akihiko was already pulling his suit, which was white, on. His clothing lay discarded at the side.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up.""01? Is that, like, a callsign, or something?"
Sakura picks up the plugsuit and examines it. "This is what we have to wear...?" She shrugs. "I guess it could be worse."
Laying the plugsuit down on the table, she starts to strip out of her clothes.
Nil, a new sci-fi/horror story that you should read and review! (Updated 4/something) ''The gate opens.Hmm. Haruko raised her brows as the pilots trickled by, mostly gobsmacked over the Evas. She chuckled softly, remembering her own reaction when she first stumbled upon them. Despite the earful she got from her parents for snooping she remained in awe of the titans. And ever since she found out that they were due to be tested by a select group of children her age she'd been counting down the days to their arrival.
Slipping out from her little hiding spot she wordlessly padded over to stand beside the captain, peering at the doors leading to the individual changing rooms. "They seem... fresh."

Yuki said, "I think we're gonna be fighting something pretty big, and hard to kill."
