My view is that compromises can and must be made, as long as core goals are held.

Anyway, Anarchist terrorism in Finland, pointless or stupid? I especially raged at the railway sabotage, partly because VR is perfectly capable of sabotaging itself, and because yeah, attack the trains, those are the enemies, man. Not the military, not poluting industires, not irresponsible banks and investors.

Yes, obviously we can't get everything we want. Each party enters negotiations like these with the same goal: to get the other parties to agree on enough of the items on their list to have a platform that's good enough to make it worthwhile to join the government. Each party must let go of some things to achieve others, and when the program is just about finished, each party has to consider whether or not it's enough to endorse it and take responsibility for it.

[up][up]idea I guess public transportation is too structured for them, they want people to walk.

If someone who knew their motives were ever to tell me why they did this shit, I'd probably be really goddamn depressed. Plus I'd need a really fucking cold beer to press against my suddenly aching forehead with my equally aching hand.

The bomb thing is apparently in solidarity of the Greek struggle. The train sabotage... eh, someone thought it was a good idea, and it's easier than airline sabotage. Really, if I were a bit more paranoid I'd shout "COINTELPRO", but chances are, this is just some dumb kids who read a few pamphlets too much.

On a side note, if things escalate, and Supo starts snooping around, I might have to work on my explenation for why I have the anarchist pamhplets "The Joy of Struggle Without Adjectives" (a treastrise on unorganized anarchist resistance) and ARSON Zine (name says enough, the actual content is anarcho-primmitivist stuff about indigenous rights). For the record, I didn't order the latter one, it came with the first one, which I had hoped for from the blurb to be about arguments for non-violent anarchism.

[ed.] Oh,, and I have some Animal Liberation Front material, fitting for someone living in Vaasa, both the fur farming, and anti-fur activist capital of Finland. But as my punk shorts read, EVR EVVK.

Anywya, these Anarchiost terrorist guys look like bunch of idiots. I see no coherent goal/attitude in them, just "do as much damage as you can" attitude. I wish Supo would crack down on them, but seems like they do have EVVK[[hottip: EVVK, Ei Vois Vähempää Kiinnostaa, Couldn't Care Less]] attitude too, maybe got more important things to do.

The ministers of the new administration were announced yesterday.

I didn't catch most of them, but I remember that Päivi Räsänen somehow managed to get the interior minister position, despite her party being the smallest one in the administration. The SDP got foreign minister and finance minister positions.

And now for your daily panic button.

<wild mass guess>SWEDISH PEOPLE CONTROL ARMED FORCES AND LAW! FINNS ARE GOING TO BE OPPRESSED MAJORITY! FINNISH LANGUAGE IS GOING TO BE BANNED! FINLAND IS GOIGN TO BE ANNEXED BY SWEDEN! </wild mass guess>

You may now return to your regular panic attack.

If you didn't get it, RKP (the swedish party) got both miniter of justice and defence, or whatever they are called. Now head to any less-regulated forum(that's about 90% of finnish speaking forums) and you see contant cries how sweden is taking over and what not. Right next to how democracy is broken since how everyone else is turncoat and other political parties didn't cave in for Perussuomalaiset demands,

On my way to beginning my civil service. I'm at a training facility, which is where I'll be on work days for the next month. Then I'll begin my service at the Sello library tongue

Anyone care to offer their thoughts on the new government?

I would, but I'm so busy and tired these days that I probably won't be writing any long posts until next week.

Well, all I got to say they got eyes on good(saving money, restoring economy, helping poor), but people are only going to see bad sides(closing schools, interior minister against gays, increases in support money low, helping Greece)

So yeah, they are going to try their best but no matter what they do, people are going to remember them bad. Unless some miracle happens.

The parties I agree with the most are the Left Union and Greens. They both got in, which is good if they get some of their ideas passed as laws.

In four years we'll see if True Finns being in the opposition allows them to get even more support in the next election.

Call me crazy, but I find that I'm fond of these anarchist idiots. As long as their antics don't hurt anyone, they're like a moment from history - similar people were quite active in the late 19th century. They're also a diversion from the far more convoluted and painful inanity of Finnish politics. At least Mr. "Jos maahanmuuttajajengi raiskaa Rosa Meriläisen, minä olen tapauksesta yksinomaan iloinen" has been quiet for a while.

So president race started and we get two wild popular person: Sauli Niinistä from Kokoomus and Timo Soini from Perussuomalaiset. Also from SDP we get... what his name again? tongue

No seriosuly, it's going to be like that if you ask me. Anyway, funny thing is that despite Perussuomalaiset victory in parliament, it would appear that most finns would pick Niinistö, rahter than Soini. I sure do.

Toughts?

Niinistö will win.

It doesn't matter. The president is just a glorified diplomat.

The press has decided Niinistö will win, so why bother.

Anyway, as a Left Alliance member, I'd be glad to send Yrttiaho and Mustajärvi to Siberia right about now. Also, the fact that the cabinet has agreed to rethink abortion makes me angry too.

But above all, I'm just really pissed off at the moment because people I know have been attacked by racists, so don't expect me to have my usual calm and balanced view on the right wing.

They're not banning abortion, only reviewing the regulations about when it's allowed and when it's not.

Though we all know that when people are "reviewing" policies in this country, it means that they already know what changes they're going to make, the rest is basically theatre.

Still, they're only going to make it harder to get an abortion, and while that certainly does suck, it's not a great loss compared to some of the dumb shit that we could've got from a government spawned from this fucked-up election.

I'll heve to find out more about the canditates closer to the elections. Going on the parties they come from I'll vote Green first, Left Union second (if they choose a canditate), and SDP third.

[awesome][awesome][awesome][awesome]For Finnish election method for allowing me to vote far a canditate who has next to no chance of winning.
