Rivain: On the far north of Thedas, the Rivaini have stood strong for millennia.

They resisted the Andrastians. They resisted the Tevinters. They resisted the Qunari. The dark-skinned heathens remain free...

For a certain definition of free: Rivain is too chaotic to effectively rule, as more than one would-be conqueror has found to his chagrin. However, it is too disorganized to prevent the Qunari and the Tevinter from establishing enclaves and exerting their influence, subtly waging their eternal camopaign on Rivaini turf.

The Qunari have grown restless lately: Rumor has it, the Arigena herself has arrived in Kont-aar. Whispers of a mass settlement campaign by the Qunari run wild among the Rivaini.

Although the Qunari pretty much leave the Rivaini be (The Natural Order is acceptable, and Rivain is not at war with the Qun), the recent arrivals are bad news: Trying to thwart Qunari influence, Tevinter magisters have staged a full-blown terror campaign.

In the midst of the chaos, a mysterious Tal Vasoth mage and a Nevarran ex-templar have been raising an army, *ostensibly* to defend Rivain's independence....

This is a freeform RP. Would-be joiners will have to provide a character sheet in the following format.

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Sex:
  • Race and Nationality:
  • Profession:
  • Religion:
  • Background and Personality:
  • Appearance:
  • Strengths (at least 3)
  • Weaknesses (at least 3)

I will accept up to 6 players. Minimum posting requirement is twice per day.

A slave or an escaped slave?

Slaves don't have much freedom of movement, and the character would have to join the party. It would be fine if he started as a slave, but the plot would probably require an escape.

An elven Tevinter merc, spy or agent could be much more appropriate.

Still, it's an interesting character choice. Lemme see that sheet.

You don't particularly mind if I recycle the Tal Vasoth gal as an NPC, right?

Almost done, need 2 more weaknesses... and go ahead and use Tali if you want. Doesn't matter. Your the GM, not me.

My character:

  • Name: Huor "Threepoint" Aldarion
  • Age: 27
  • Sex: Male
  • Race and Nationality: Elven, Tevinter Nationality
  • Profession: Former Tevinter Slave, now a lone Rivaini Mercenary (He works alone.)
  • Religion: None. Slaves aren't taught to believe in anything, and are forced not to.
  • Background and Personality: Huor has been a slave since birth, serving the Tevinter mages. When a Tevinter mage moved to Rivain taking him as his personal servant, Huor saw his opportunity to escape, killing several Tevinter soldiers in the Process. He then became a Mercenary for hire, but is still being hunted by the Tevinter Imperium... HATES Mages, and and doesn't do too well with people overall.
  • Appearance: Tall with a small frame, White hair, a scar across his lip on the left side and a scar on his cheek on the right side. Has a portion of his right ear missing from his escape, making it look like he has three points on his ears. (Hence the nickname "Threepoint.") Pale with lyrium tatoos across his body and eyes as blue as ice.
  • Strengths: Extremely Agile (parkour agile, with a combat freerun flair to it,) adept at one on one combat, and adept at dual wield fighting.
  • Weaknesses: Cannot fight a large number of people at once (anything over 3, and even then he has trouble,) Takes a bit more damage than normal from spells due to the lyrium veins (Applied Phlebotinum there,) and he wears extremely light armor, making it easier to get hurt from basic attacks.

Sort of. I got the idea from Fenris, but that's about it.

Well he IS a slave. If it bothers you, i can change it. Make him a "good" slave.

Not really, no. He's alright.

Hmm... Not religious, disciplined, not very emotional and violently anti-mage.

He could easily go pro-Qunari. That is... unexpected.

He's in.

[up] Yeah, PM me a general idea of the religious views and whatnot of the factions. I'm not familiar with Rivain or the Qunari or anything else in this RP, to my knowledge. Besides the general idea, but i would hope i at least know that much.

Okay, the qunari are the only race that have discovered gunpowder

Can we have like... flintlocks, maybe? Maybe slightly more advanced than dragon age usually is?

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

Well, this is called shadow of the Qun, implying that there will be some interaction with the Qunari, meaning you could get one if you are their ally, or take one off the corpse of an enemy.

Yes, you can get flintlocks. The Tal Vasoth have alchemists, too, and there's plenty of'em in Rivain. Tal Vasoth are often cash-strapped.

There's enough Tal Vasoth in Rivain that, should they ally with the Dalish and the Rivaini underclass they could stir some serious shit up.

Erhmm... That'd kinda screw up the Dragon Age setting.

You *can* play any of the races merged with any kind of spirit, though. That'd be enough to get some quirky traits.

You can get quirky traits through hosting spirits. tongue

Or through A Wizard Did It for that matter. It's not like Dragon Age's got few strange characters.
