The cons have the majority, but it's the NDP who are the talk of the town, so to speak.

Olivia Chow's Chinese is incomprehensible. Absolutely incomprehensible.

Maybe she's just excited tonight but other times I've had no trouble understanding it.

You gotta listen closely, that's all I can say.

Well, to be quite fair, I've never been able to understand her Chinese. Like a word out of every seven. Mostly contractions and particles.

So the Tories had a net gain of seats? Instead of a net loss?

Seems so, the NDP ate up pretty much all of the bloc, the liberals flat lined and the conservatives inched into majority territory.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

I just got a mental image of the NDP eating Bloc's corpse.

so apparently the cons made gains in the maritimes? Are their collective memories that short?

I'm hearing that May won her seat, meaning the Greens have their foot in the door.

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

Even having one seat would legitimize the Green Party.

Good for Elizabeth May. Can't wait to see her at the debates. Unless they can come up with another excuse to deny her.

We might get a green seat and we'll just have to hope for tory M Ps to vote their conscious.

[up][up][up][up] It's too early to tell, but she has a 800-something votes' advance

EDIT: Yeah, this seems almost inevitable, now. She has a bit under 50% of the vote with Tories at 35%, but there's still 3/4 of the polls left.

Hopefully he sticks around four more years so we can have Layton for PM next time around.

Man, it feels weird to say "Layton for PM" seriously.

I guess it is.

He doesn't even have a seat in parliament anymore. Resigning is irrelevant.

I bet he'll end up in a John Tory situation where none of his party members respect him enough to give up a seat for him and he finally resigns in shame a few months down the road.

[up][up][up]Layton might not be leader in the next election. Depends on if his health declines.

[up]Or they just ask him to resign.

I hope the next leader of the Liberals will be Bob Rae. Just because I enjoy a good laugh.

edit: I've always liked Saanich for how pretty it is and also the lamb, but also now electing Elizabeth May.

I think the first thing Harper will pass is fair representation for Western Canada and Ontario, just because it'd shore up his majority so well.
