I read, from a link I thought I found on this forum, that basically the story and script come from the Nolans and Goyer but Christopher Nolan wouldn't have time to fit it in and would be one for not focusing hawk like on each project so they've decided to just deliver this really cool idea they had and Synder will take over.

So Synder won't have to think about the story so much but he will be in charge of direction, design and photography which just rather leaves me cold. He can replicate a look well, can he make one?

Bleh, I'd rather Costner not be a part of it altogether (ok, Dances With Wolves didn't endure me to him. He's just so boring). But, I guess it's better if he acts instead of directs. Especially if there's a possibility Nolan does any of the directing, having 3 directors would be a pretty bad move, I'd think.

Snyder makes entertaining movies but I really can't call any of them great. What generally makes them so entertaining is that the story and characters are done in pretty large strokes, there is very little room for subtlety. {{300}} wouldn't have been nearly as popular if it wasn't so outrageous, and even Watchmen rode mostly off of Haley's dynamic performance as Rorshack.

Superman has never been a Hot-Blooded type. He's the boy scout, a very tranquil and peaceful individual, he has to be otherwise people get hurt. He has his moments of rage and anger but that is never the norm. I can see some villains being hot blooded, that's about the perfect way to characterize Zod, but that runs straight into the common problem of the villains being more interesting than the hero. Now that I think about it, it's a miracle that Reeve was able to command screen presense away from Hackman.

A Superman movie has to work on that majestic strength and grace alongside epic battles, Bryan Singer's version was too much of the former but I'm afraid if it goes to the opposite extreme it would turn people off just as much.

It's all a matter of perspective. There's nothing Snyder could do at this point that would offend me — I've seen Smallville, witnessed the bottom of the foul barrel.

Trust me, Nolan and Snyder are soulmates. Nolan ensures the script won't be crap, while Snyder is a stick of TNT needed to demolish the Reeve nostalgia. That is not to say Snyder is a good director — doubtless a lot of the film will end up being special effects porn. But at this point I'll accept anything* that shakes up the paradigm.

Will Superman finally get to fight that giant spider in this movie?

I didn't write any of that.

One thing I never understood about the "Giant Mechanical Spider" executive meddling meme is that it doesn't sound that bad to me. In the DCAU crossover "Worlds Finest" Batman and Superman are forced to battle these spider-like military machines, and it was pretty cool. Make them alien weapons (ie Brainiac-created) and I don't really see it being that bad. Almost anything can work if you do it right, so long as the core of the character is kept intact.

It was bad because the guy who suggested it (Jon Peters) knew nothing about comic books. He also suggested that Superman turn into Venom (failing to realize that Venom is a Marvel character).

[up]Have to agree. Besides, what do spiders have to do with Superman? At all? I would love if Superman finally got to go up against Brainiac but not like that. I think if they found a way to really make him alien and a cerebral villain, they'd have something amazing. Oh, and Kandor has to be in there somewhere. That would be epic.

I'm actually really curious as to what Snyder comes up with in his vision of Krypton if we ever see it. There has been alot of versions of this Kal-El's home planet and I'm curious as to whether he'll bring them back or make them completely new.

Nother I'm curious about. In the Nolan Batman films, they were able to split Bruce Wayne into three identities: Rich Airhead Wayne, Grim Batman and Brooding Wayne in the middle. For years the true personality of Superman has been one of those questions that keep popping up. Is Clark the mask or is Superman? I would really like to know how they handle that aspect.

I'm banking on Amy Adams being a lovable Lois. ....Christ, I need a lovable Lois. No more coarse voices, or bitchy passive-aggression, or child neglect. Please.

I can imagine her being able to pull it off. I mean, she managed not to make a cliched Disney Princess annoying. Besides, brunette might look good on her.

Doubtless he'll pop up after the credits, but it's a wise move not to address that character at all.

Unlikely, unless they're either using the strictly "mad scientist" character (possible), not going into full detail about Clark's past (fairly possible), or not having the movie take place in Metropolis (unlikely).

Lex, as his current characterization (at least before his many, many falls) owns Metropolis, and is a major presence even when he isn't the main villain.

More likely, if he isn't the villain in the movie is taking place in Metropolis, he will be a supporting character and there will only be references, tension and foreshadowing leading up to his villainous role in a sequel.

I certainly understand the Venom-esque change being ridiculous, as it changes the core origin of the character and his powers. But when Superman's foes include corrupt executives, aliens, mad scientists, galactic conquerors, omnicidal robots and people who can reshape reality, how far fetched is it to have a giant spider-robot as like a War of the Worlds kind of thing. As mentioned before, Brainiac is a natural fit for that kind of stuff.

I guess it's a moot point, it's highly unlikely to be a part of the new film. I just wonder why people focus on "Superman vs. Robot Spider" as opposed to "Super-Symbiote" when it comes to that whole ordeal. Jon Peters knowing nothing about the character means nothing when it comes to the merit of an idea, the idea itself stands alone.

It's just that, it's a robot spider against...this. I know that Brainiac could potentially inhabit any form he chooses, but something like his skull ship has way more potential visually.

Let me start by saying that I think Zack Snyder is an excellent director, but I am not confident in his ability to do Superman and with Christopher Nolan as producer, I'm even less excited. Snyder does very dark films, Nolan does hyper realistic films. Those two phrases are not typically what I associate with Superman. Still, I'm gonna keep an open mind.

One thing I definitely hope for is that the Lex Luther that appears in the reboot movies ( whether immediately or not )? Must be the post crisis Corporate Lex. Seriously, lets join the modern era, and have a Luther that isn't a campy mad scientist land baron.

Why not have both? Corporate Lex lacks a believable motive for hating Superman, other than being a petty megalomaniac. The best part of mark Waid's version is how he's a billionaire scientist, rather than a Megacorp CEO motivated entirely by greed.

You could incorporate Lex's silver age origin into the mix — maybe he loses his hair due to a radiation accident, then uses Kryptonian tech to stay alive; etc etc.

I say, lose Lex as the Big Bad. Lex Luthor is heavily overexposed, let's give us someone novel in a movie, someone fun, like Bizarro, or Mxyzptlk, or at least someone threatening like Darkseid or Doomsday.
