Steve nodded, thinking of how he was drafted. His father was still around back then, and that afternoon he was off. He wasn't in one of his moods, instead he was sitting casually in a lawn chair as he drank some coffee and read the paper. Ma was reading a book, waiting for the laundry to finish. Emily was asleep, recovering from a fever from earlier. He had walked in and held the mail in his hand when he spotted the brown envelop of a letter addressed to him. Steve passed the letters onto the table and took his before quickly opening it, not responding as his father asked for a "hello" or even noticing his mother's worried expression.
He was officially drafted. His birthday was coming up in a week, and a day later he would be sent off to boot camp. His hands shook as he tried to imagine it. He was no soldier, he was no battle hardened hero. He was looking to graduate in physics, although his GPA spoke towards literature! But this... this threw everything out the window. He smiled as he re-read it, hoping for a loophole or some way he could get out. But it was as clear as day.
Back in the APC, Steve just simply nodded as he recollected the memories. "Yeah... we have to stop it all from happening again. Ever again." He stated quietly, more a reassurance to himself than an answer.

Pokedy Poke-pokeIt won't, Nika wanted to say, It's not going to happen again, if we can help it. But she didn't trust her oratory abilities or her ability to get across what she meant in English, and would the other Childrens really appreciate her being so positive? It was like they had just said. The others had been forced into this situation. Nika, on the other hand, had been trained to fight Angels from as far back as he could remember. What insight would they possibly believe she had into their situations?
So instead, the transport merely fell into an exceptionally oppressive silence for a little while. As they continued on, the Russian pilot began to worry about his synch ratio, just as he had been doing before drifting off to sleep the night before. What if it wakes up, and I can't move? What if I can't help my new friends and they end up getting hurt? What if...
GM: AGOG S4 & F/WC RP; Co-GM: TABA, SOTR, UUA RP; Sub-GM: TTS RP. I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire.Steve bit his lip as he thought onto the situation. He couldn't be the one being lowered, since the AT field was still a misnomer and something he could not handle. If he were lowering one of the others, his weapons would be down. However, the JET II can last longer than the others, and being able to hand onto the rope in an emergency might be a necessity. Still, he could simply provide support and cover for whatever this embryo had... or any friends that were nearby to it...
"I'm willing to lower someone by the rope." Steve stated as he rapped his legs softly. "So... who is going to see the ugly beast?"

Pokedy Poke-pokeNormally, Joshua wouldn't have volunteered for this sort of thing.
But these were hardly circumstances that he would consider 'Normal'. Joshua wanted to see the kind of thing he'd be up against. He wanted to see the face of his enemy.
Keep it short and to the point, Josh. Don't let them hear the fear in your voice.
"I'll go."

(◕ ヮ ◕)ノErin had been quiet for most of the journey, lost in thought, although as Steve made his quiet statement she looked up and nodded silently. Never again...
The british girl had sat and listened to teh breifing in silence, her face serious. She'd been about to open he rmouth to volunteer when she The quiet kid, Josh, spoke up.
"... OK, if you're sure, Josh." Erin said, settling back in her seat and crossing her arms. It didn't feel right, sitting back and letting someone else go into danger. "We'll be here to back you up." She looked questioningly at Jade.
Steve began to chuckle as he heard this statement, a rare reminder as he thought back to an old saying in boot camp. "Because if everything went according to plan, we wouldn't be in this god-forsaken mess." He shook his head softly, wondering just what the old coot was up to right now. Probably spitting on some other greenhorn who failed to make his bed perfectly or otherwise keep up with the pack. The guy was grumpy and every bit of a bastard as the rest of them. All he had to do was obey orders and he'd get along. Probably no wonder he liked the old guy.
"Alright then. So I'm holding the rope while... Josh was it? You will be lowered down into the valley..." He nodded at the boy as he slowly stretched out. "Good luck everyone. Let's all get this done nice and cleanly."
Pokedy Poke-pokeIn the midst of all this serious talk, Kaori yawned. She immediately blushed and shrank away.
Like the others, she was surprised when Joshua boldly offered to be lowered into the danger; and not only because it was the first time she'd heard him speak.
At least, of course, this was just a salvaging operation, and no fighting would be done today, no one would have to get hurt, and hopefully everything would go smoothly and she wouldn't have to embarass herself with her giant robot piloting skills or lack of thereof.
She steeled herself for the worst, and hoped for the best.

Steve grabbed the thick, lengthy cord and began tying one end of it around the JET II as a weight, also in case he needed to haul out fast. He held the length of the other end of the cord and looked around the EVA's with slight confusion. "Erm... stupid question, but which one of you is... Unit 00?" He asked falteringly, the JET II just standing there with the cord around its waist.
Pokedy Poke-poke"Ah..." Steve cleared his throat before approaching the model. "Never was much of a boyscout believe it or not, but I'm fairly certain that this should do the trick...!" He muttered as he began tying the opposite end to Unit 00. When he was finished, he held a fair amount of the line in his arm, while letting the rest hover between him and Unit 00. "Alright Josh, whenever you are ready. If you need me to pull you out in a jiffy, just scream out ok?"
Pokedy Poke-pokeSteve sighed softly as he saw Josh seem alright down below, and he lowered the length of the coil down the cliffside as he made a firm grip on it. "Good to hear... So, what do you see down there Josh?" he called out, apparently not hearing and/or ignoring Erin's remark.

Pokedy Poke-pokeThe Angel embryo was some distance away but visible. It was rather small and buried under some rocks.
Above ground a squadron of six green helicopters hovered above, "United Nations Soldiers, You are in violation of the Valentine Treaty. Surrender now and we can assure you that no harm will come to you."

"It was a little before your time," Jade sighed over the radio, "They passed it after the second impact as a way to end the post-impact wars. It basically made the UN what it is today..."
The helicopters hovered above, "Deactivate your Evangelions. We will give you Thirty seconds to comply."
It had been about a minute since they had been activated. There was no mobile power source. Only about four minutes remained. Whatever they did they would have to do fast.

"I don't know if they saw you. Proceed quickly, you have four minutes on the clock," Jade said as fast as she could
"Twenty Seconds."
Jade turned the Radio into speaker mode.
"Who are you?"
"This is the United States Military. We don't know your business here, but you have violated border agreements and we're going to have to take you in."

"Yeah... I know the feeling. These days a lot of kids have to choose between life in a classroom waiting on a Eva and life in a tent... Back when I was a child... well kid, they didn't even know they were candidates until they got the letter. Half my classroom was in the program by the time we realized we were on the list too..."
