Another Custom Title Glitch

Okay, the new Custom Title is quite a useful tool, but it still has some glitches.

One that took me some time to understand how it worked is the following (I don't think it is specific to my browsers):

When some Wiki Words have a first custom title added, it works perfectly fine.

When a custom title already exist and is CORRECTED, however, even if okayed by the mods (as can be seen in the Customize Title tool if you submit it again), this is not the new title which is displayed on the pages, but the first one.

Here is an example: Everything Is an iPod in the Future

The custom display should be: "Everything Is an iPod in the Future" But on the articles, it is still displayed as: "Everything Is An iPod In The Future"

Hence, second/corrected custom titles just aren't displayed.

I also noticed some plain Wiki Words with custom titles that just aren't displayed at all. Example: Ma'am Shock, I'll Kill You!

I think this is, in fact, related to the bug above, or even pretty much the same thing. I believe that for those two tropes, a first custom title was submitted, and rejected because incorrect. Then the correct custom titles ("Ma'am Shock" and "I'll Kill You!", respectively) were submitted and validated, but they still don't display because they weren't first submitted, as with the corrected examples above.

So, maybe the Database needs some Percussive Maintenance to reset the custom titles to those actually accepted, and not just the first ones.

I thought we were only supposed to use proper capitalisation for work titles, not tropes.

Yeah. I believe the tropes are still supposed to be made of Wiki Words.

Whatever the case, this isn't at all the point of the current thread.

Missing the point, guys. OP requested a capitalization of "in the Future" but is instead seeing "In The Future" even after the request is approved.

(Did I describe it right?)

Was it really approved? My point is that is not weird for it not be changed, since we are supposed to be using Wiki Words.

Well, the ptitle is displaying like it should, it's just the redirect that needs the I to be lower-case. And the other titles that are not being substituted at all obviously.

I thought we were only supposed to use proper capitalisation for work titles, not tropes.
I asked Fast Eddie in the moderators' secret lair, and he said that trope titles and work titles should follow the same capitalization rules. So yeah, "the" and "of" and "and" should be lowercase in trope titles.

Anyway, Fast Eddie is looking into the issue of why the title customizer isn't switching out old custom titles with new ones.

Really? I personally prefer the wikiwords myself.

I think that the mods have the right idea, as to avoid confusion. Since articles and conjonctions in lowercase is the rule for work titles (not a hard rule, but still very widespread), it's easier to also apply it to trope titles, so they don't have to double-check if every submission of a custom title it either a trope or a work.

And IMHO, it looks much better that way.

Ma'am Shock. Ma'am. Ma'am Shock.

Interesting.

More glitchiness: The custom title request for Better to Die than Be Killed won't go through the system. I accept it, and then it shows back up on the request queue as if I had ignored it. I'm not sure if this is because it's a change rather than a new request, or if it's because the requested change is the same as the custom title already in the system (which just isn't displaying for some reason).

Meta I was having the same problem at the same time, I ended up declining it to make it go away. I sent a pm to St Fan so he would know why.
