"Sure," said David. "Right through here." He crawled back into the passage and showed Lucas to the vault door, with its scanner and keypad.

"We were looking for something like a screwdriver - this keypad has screws on it, right here - because then maybe I could rewire this and possibly bypass the keypad."

The Robot Maid will stop for the (honorary) master of the castle, right? Or will it only stop for the real master, who is fuck-knows-where right now?

Viktor came back in with his umbrella, his psychic powers shielding Anaru and Noah.

"Your name was Rosanna, I believe? Since I'm the master of the castle for the time being, I order you to stop."

[up] Only the real master, and it's not Vicio. Vicio might be able to stall it, but its programming heels to the mysterous person/thing that send it to the castle.

I have to go now.

ROSANNA turned its head towards Viktor. He was a very intriguing human, but he seemed to have forgotton to pull out a weapon.

"You are not my master." it coutinued maintaining fire at its captors.

Fuck. That's a problem. The hell, the material they made the vault out of dulled all known cutting tools. What's Rosanna's drill made of, anyways? Nintendium?

Viktor held up the shield as he tried to disassemble her with his psychic powers.

Why was this happening to him.

Borghild woke up to find that she had dozed off in the library chair—a week of pushing a ship through a sea storm all by yourself will do that to you.

Apparently the guy examining the hearth had found what he wanted, Deivit or whatever his name was, since it opened up onto some kind of dark passage.

Not seeing anything better to do, Borghild took her dagger in hand and crawled into the passage. She followed it up, down, wherever it decided to take her. She didn't particularly care where, as long as it let to something interesting, possibly riches. You could never have too many riches.

Eventually, the passage came to an end, revealing a big iron door and two individuals (one of them Deivit) standing before it, engaged in thought.

Borghild's rings are literally finger rings, by the way. According to Beowulf arm-rings or bracelets existed, but I don't know what they would have looked like.

Fictionium or something like that. It's harder than hundreds of substances harder than diamond. At least it is struggling, it will take an hour or two to drill in, unless someone interferes and hastens the process somehow.

ROSANNA felt a tug at its vacuum cleaner arm, its left arm. Even though its metal surface was rate nine on the Moh's scale, it was still vulnerable to direct attacks. Whoever created the Robot Maid thought that its many variety of forcefields to block the majority of attacks, but it couldn't form them because it was dedicating most of its power into the drill. It couldn't reattach its' arm either.

Its right arm plopped off and flinged a few feet away. Seeing it in the mud and grass, it realized that it was weaker than it thought.

At this pace, she would have to abort the operation.

"Well.... most of us had been weird in some way haven't we?" Lucas said observing the secret passage and the locked door. "Does anyone happen to have super strength?"

"I do." Yet again, Ian appeared from the shadows. He never got tired of doing that. It added to his mysterous reputation, "I am stronger than the average human, but I can't punch through the vault door. The best I can do is to dent it by an inch or two, but I'll break my arm doing that."

He heard the faint sound of bullets from the surface, and the same wirring drilling sound.

"Hey," he said, tilting his head towards the sounds, "Do you hear that?"

"Yes apparently ghosts and robots are fighting outside," Lucas responded. "Anyway I think there may be a flaw in the design here. Most of the defenses seems to be concentrated at the entrance with the strongest kind of steel You decide what it is."

"But what if we don't use the entrance?" Lucas continued and walk back along the path of the secret passage then stopped abruptly in front of a brick wall. "Through this brick wall we should also be able to get to wherever the Vault door would lead us."

btw I said earlier that Lucas might be a bit Mary Sue-ish but I'm not sure. So does anyone think that way? He scored a 44 on this test and he does have a phobia and Berserk Button. Guess which ones.

OOC: Strange, Ian got 23 on that test, which means he safe. He also got 8 on the Springhole test, very safe. However, Sue limtus tests are looked down on by some people, as indicated by the Mary Sue thread on this sub-forum. As long as his powers are on-par with other characters (Ian is about equal to other vampires his age), and he doesn't bend the plot around him, he's fine.

Ian followed Lucas to the brick wall, "Do you think that they would leave a flaw like that around the safe? My best guess is that the metal wall surrounds all six sides of the safe." He was cautious about breaking it. One mistake and they might set off the security system, and they would be in trouble.

Another sound came from above. Even though it been a few hours, the rain hadn't let out yet.

"Assuming we can even break through the wall at all," David said. "It's highly likely that the walls here are thick, and getting through them would take a lot of time."

Man it's getting so difficult to move the plot forward by now. Anyone have ideas? I'd like to see characters react to some kind of discovery. Can't that happen before 400 posts though?

Okay we got Alister discovering the illusion dead bodies. We haven't got much further than that.

The plot seems to be, "Find out what the hell they're doing in this place". If someone can locate a computer to check out all of the pictures of results of genetics experiments, then we'd have gratification and a reason to want to raid the lab/do whatever else the characters can come up with.

In fact, I have an idea to move things forward- Get the guests together to, I dunno, interact. Like, share their findings and opinions. Get on the same page. Which is... what I thought the Character Setting threads were meant for. '_'

"Yo. You all need to get through this wall? I might be able to do this..."

Borghild cracked her knuckles and began smashing them into the door with all of her ring-enhanced strength, putting in dents, dents, and more dents.

"This is going to take a while..." she muttered to herself, forgetting to turn the translator back to SEND.

Yes, the 6th 4th century Scandinavian is saying "yo". That's how the translator translates it. Shush.

My avatar also happens to be Borghild right now.

"That'll probably work," said David. "Thanks." He took the knife and used it to unscrew the keypad. Given the knife's size, it was a bit awkward, but it worked. "Now let's see what we've got under here."

Sensing that it was being tampered with, the keypad and interface shut down, and the people there heard something within the vault slam shut. The keypad's OS bore instructions deep within its code to keep security bars within the walls of the vault in the open position if everything was in working order.

However, now, they were just released into the closed position, locking the door until the keypad could be reaffixed. Just as David predicted.

Viktor removed ROSANNA's other arm with his psychic powers. That should be enough for it to stop, now that it saw that it had potentially dangerous opposition.

Anaru kept his eyes on it, as always with the resolve of a knight.

"...Okay, Cyrus!" The scientist disconnected the IVs from their subject's arm as he sat up, like this was all second nature to him.

"Thanks. I know the drill, take it easy for the next 24 hours, yada, yada..." Cyrus left for his subject room that was down the hall from Viktor's study, texting the entire way there. Teenagers.

On the east wall of the room Cyrus was in, one of the new guys was searching frantically around his station for something, going underneath the table and behind his computer while some of the veterans of this place watched his pathetic attempts with mixed expressions of annoyance and pity.

One of them, a red-eyed young man who looked about Cyrus's age stood over him, hands clasped behind his back, with a cold expression of disdain.

"What have you done." His voice was emotionless and robotic-sounding, with no inflection whatsoever.

The new guy bolted upright to his feet. "AH! D- Doctor- Doctor Thornton..."

"Stop stammering, you have already given me all of the proof I require to objectively conclude that you are an idiot unworthy of working among us."

"Please, just give me one more chance-!"

"There is a reason why we have a regulation against writing passwords, let alone keeping them near your station. Thank you for demonstrating that reason to the rest of your associates. Since you do not currently know of any company secrets, I would normally ask you to gather your possessions and vacate the premises within three hours of this moment, but in light of the tropical storm, an exception will have to be made."

"Un- Understood... Doctor Thornton."

The unusually young 'doctor' left to complete the employee termination paperwork.

The newly fired upstart scientist hung his head, his breaths trembling.

"I... hate this place." he muttered under his breath.

He took what little he had there, and left for the east wing. He no longer cared if the lab's history was revealed to the world.

ROSANNA looked in dull surprise as the enemy moved its arm away from its sight. Viktor was definitely a physic-type fighter. To fight physics, it couldn't use mundane weapons anymore.

It shut off the drill. It needed the extra power. Its mechanisms moved faster, heating up. It summoned all her power, causing water to vaporize on its metal surface. Its surviving arm turned back to normal, and it pointed it at the wet ground. Its eyes glowed even redder.

"Activating Super Mode..." she said, dropping her kind maid act altogether. She now had an extremely low, robotic voice that sounded intimating. Wisps of physic energy began flowing around her.

"Well, that was worth a try," Ian said, staring at the computer monitor. He hadn't been talking much.

Suddenly, he developed goosebumps. He felt something wrong nearby. Something...cold and unearthly. There was definately something going on nearby.

He turned his back to them, "I need to check something," and then he bolted away, becoming a dark blur in the hallways. There was an element of fierceness in his unseeable face. Something was happening. Something was horribly wrong.

He entered the foyer, and ran towards the front doors.

She watched with slight interest as the quiet dude ran off. "What's with him?"
