This game is badass. The combat is actually pretty good, even though I disliked the battles in FFXII, which is similar. Dual audio is pretty cool. I'm playing with Japanese voices and subtitles because it seems more appropriate. Maybe I've been playing too many American-voice acted games, but the English accents sound rather out of place in an overtly Japanese game like this. Also, the Japanese are just better at dramatic battle cries.
This world is big. Like, really, mind-bogglingly big. You may think it's a long walk down to the chemist, but that's peanuts to Xenoblade Chronicles. There's a fast travel feature, but I don't use it much because running around exploring is more fun.
The visuals are very good. It's a Wii game, so polygon counts and textures are subpar, but the world and character designs are great.
One important thing, if you get this I strongly advise you to pick up a classic controller pro to play it with. You can play it with the wiimote, but the control scheme is really designed for a traditional controller layout.
To the yanks:
It will be worth the wait. Hang in there!

Wait, it's a Gamestop release only? What the fuck are those of us in rural America supposed to do? There isn't a Gamestop within hundreds of miles of here. It's literally a 6 hour drive to the nearest one. It's like they're deliberately setting it up to fail.
Damn you, Nintendo.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Guys, I started to play Xenoblade today (my brother's girlfriend asked me to do so, because she wants to know how the story continues, and my brother is sick, so he currently can't play videogames) , and within the first 15 minutes of gameplay, I've encountered my first glitch in Colony 9! I went to one of those stands where a woman stands right in front of the entry, I decided to talk to her. After doing that, I originally wanted to continue on with the story, but somehow, I managed to get past her and into the stand, not being able to get out of it via foot (I had to use the quick-travel option to get out). Now that's a good omen for when I will continue playing...

Scrubbed: As it turns out, the game helpfully puts a little clock icon next to any quests that can be Lost Forever by continuing the plot. Good to know.

Ah, so you don't have to get it from Gamestop?
In that case, I'll get it.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyOh, awesome. I'll definitely get it from the Nintendo store, even though I hate ordering online as a general rule.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.There's no mention of Game Cube controller support in the manual. I don't own a GC controller so I can't test it.
Stop talking about when it's going to be released and talk about the game!
Sooooo. Early game spoilers. I defeated the first faced mechon, the one that kidnaps Juju. From what he says, the mechon aren't all that they seem. My guess is, the ordinary mechon are brainless robots, but the faced mechon are people sealed into suits or something. I bet that cowardly guy who teamed up with Dunban at the very beginning has become a mechon.
I really like the music that plays on Bionis' Leg.

How can we talk about the game when we haven't played it? Unless you're a spoiler hound, there's not much to talk about.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Well, the US release is only 3 months away, and most of us have preordered it. :P
Speaking of, Xenoblade seems to be doing well for itself, as it rose above several anticipated Nintendo games.
Including Luigis Mansion 2!
Gamemp3s
has the OST available for download. Its in the 2010-06-26 file. Xanthe is surprising me; its suddenly my favorite theme in the game.
Also Talby? Don't do any quests. In case you didn't read through the topic, quests in this game give you crazy XP. Doing all the quests in Colony 9 alone will make you strong enough to cake walk the spider queen. Its advisable to do the quests about 2-3 towns after.
I've only been doing a handful of quests in each area, but there's a bunch which become Lost Forever if you don't complete them forward proceeding past a certain point in the story, and I don't want to get locked out of getting 100% completion.

Oh no, there's only a certain place you'll get locked out of, and even then all the quests will be replaced by something equivalent. Everything else can be saved BY NOT TAKING THEM.
I like the story. The gameplay is...well it depends. If you aren't overleveled (which happens far too easily), it's imho pretty fun. Once overleveled it becomes less interesting, though. Most of the side quests are just a grind, the rest have their own story and are imho pretty interesting. If you are a completionist and you don't use a guide, expect 200+ hours of gameplay. I liked the game overall.

JRP Gs in general are getting rarer and rarer these days.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!
