Yeah, but I didn't think they would do that much promotion. As highly publicized Op. Rainfall was, JRPG's are still a niche genre, especially after FF 13 received severe Hype Backlash. Though, the news of the game crossing the pond was met with a lot of positivity, even from G4(!).
Maybe they can get ads on TV and Magazines when the game comes out, advertising it with the tagline "The wait is over.", though knowing the Rainfall operators, they'll probably start a new campaign to ask people to buy the game like in Europe.

A quick check on Operation Rainfall's facebook page shows that yes, they are continuing the hype train for this game, and understandably so.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadHas anyone had any success in placing a preorder from Gamestop's online store? They keep insisting my billing address is wrong. Despite the fact that I'm literally copying my info character-for-character from my billing statement.
Dammit Gamestop I'm trying to give your shitty company money, seriously.

The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith.![]()
Huh? My sister said she went to the Gamestop by her school and they told her it was an online-only deal. 0.o
...Glad Gamestop's got all their shit together for this. Seriously.
Still, thanks — that's encouraging, in that it means there must be some brick-and-mortar Gamestops that are taking preorders. When I get back to the US, I'll probably go hunting with her for those stores.
Although that's possible, given the circumstances and implications of the Gamestop exclusivity, I think it's more likely this is only something they did recently in response to fan reaction/Operation Rainfall, and are testing the waters with the industry's biggest retailer to see how big demand is. If they had intended to release it all along, I think it would be getting a larger retail footprint than Gamestop and the Nintendo store.

The blind man walking off the cliff is not making a leap of faith. So, this might be a silly question. . . but how *is* Xenoblade? Does it have a good plot? Good characters? Fun game mechanics?

He's just bothered with That One Boss, which happens to be the 3rd to the last major boss. I say major because there are many other minor bosses scattered between the 3rd, the 2nd, and the final bosses.
Nah, if that was the only problem, I'd suck it up and beat that boss so I could go back to the good stuff. Problem is, however, that I completely lost interest in the story after a certain event long before That One Boss. The fact that the game, for my tastes, is just too gaddang long if you want to complete as many sidequests as possible* didn't help to keep my interest.
That boss was just the straw that broke the camel's back, really.
That too, but it's mostly how I felt that The entire point of Shulk's quest was to avenge Fiora. And then she popped up mostly just fine. It didn't really piss me off so much as it made me feel like the whole thing lost it's meaning and got replaced by a standard 'save the world from an asshole god'. This, combined with the tiredness resulting from all those sidequests made me lose interest.
While I was planning to get at least my money's worth and see if the ending was any good, I ran into that one boss, said 'f*ck it' and went to play something else. I think Oo T 3D came out around that time, though I'm not sure.
I know nothing about the game, but yeah, the "God is evil!" thing is becoming so predictable that it would be refreshing to have JRPG where goal isn't saving the world :P
How predictable it was? So predictable that despite knowing nothing about the game I figured it would be something like that.

Is it even correct to call any boss in this game 'that one boss' when there is near zero death penalty, along with literally infinite grinding opportunities?
I don't remember being challenged even once before I stopped grinding quests. The most annoying boss in the game was only challenging if you couldn't figure out companion commands.
aww, the game is easy? Ah well, that's only a minor thing.

So your issue is mainly that it's a really long game, along with certain plotpoints? Hmm.

Yes. If nothing else, a boss that forces a disproportionate amount of grinding ( due to a Difficulty Spike or a quirk in level/ability progression ) could be That One Boss.

Its unpredictable. Believe me, its unpredictable. God Is Evil yes, but you'll never guess where that god will come from.

Kayeka's stuck on that Telethia boss, the one in Bionis' Interior.

Its only easy if you do quests. Believe me, the developers broke the game a bit by making quests give you glorious amounts of XP. If you ignore quests until you're 1-to-2 villages away from them, you'll do just fine, having a fair amount of difficulty.
So, I'm currently playing this new game I've got alongside Xenoblade* . Its called Earth Seeker, and its kinda a shame how this one isn't also getting a European release. It plays so far like Pikmin + Monster Hunter, except everything's selected through menus. Oh, I'm not saying its turnbase, but think of Monster Hunter except you choose your attacks through a menu that pops out when you target an enemy. Kinda makes sense since you have your little alien hobbit friends running behind you offering magic attacks and combos. Still mucking about the interface trying to understand everything.
Just pre-ordered this game with the money I got for Christmas. Glad I'll have something to play when I'm done with Skyward Sword.
I really hope NOA brings The Last Story over, too, I could use some more good Wii RPG games.

Wow, if you check Nintendo's Facebook page, they're practically all about Xenoblade right now.
