I'm currently working on a Paranormal Action cartoon script with scifi themes in which two organizations are currently battling out for the fate of the earth. (Original I know.)

My primary demographic would be boys 9-14, with a secondary demographic of boys in the teenage years. Figured I put that out there.

What I'm have trouble is developing why my heroes have paranormal powers. Should I make it a genetic or something learned? Also as for an my two organizations are there any tips for creating them.

Are your organisations made of

Normal humans?
Paranormal creatures?
Mixture of the two?

Are they trying to

Destroy everything paranormal?
Preserve paranormal artefacts?
Hide paranormal occurrences from human?
Use paranormal artefacts for their own end?
Create greater understandings of paranormal occurrences on humans?

If a chicken crosses the road and nobody else is around to see it, does the road move beneath the chicken instead?

Well, if you have psychic powers those could be inherited. Something learned... well, maybe someone could inherit a magical family heirloom?
