Oh, don't get me wrong, in a world with no superheroes or supervillains, Jameson would come off as an outstanding shining example of gruff likability. He's just the kind of character writers prefer to handle tapping on his single large defining flaw, instead of playing his depths consistently.

Yeah, the biggest flaw with Jameson is simply the fact that he gets Flanderized a lot. There are times when Jameson really shows his hidden depths, and then there are moments like his thought train to Spider-Man becoming an Avenger.

Spider-Man is a criminal.

Spider-Man is an Avenger.

To be fair Ditko would have seen the guy as black as opposed to white. And Lee always characterized him as a guilable idiot. The problem is when he's not appearing regularly he becomes less 3 dimensional.

Am I a good man or a bad man?
