It's a bit of a stretch to believe you're a god when there are 7999 other gods in the same town. You're only special when other people aren't special. You'd have to be both pretty crazy and won the Superpower Lottery in a big way.

How might sibling dynamics in affected families work out?

Younger siblings probably wouldn't care much, t'd just be part of the world they were born into. Older siblings might blame them for ruining their families, depending on whether or not that actually happens.

Edit: Also, it'd be much more likely for there to be a huge age gap between older siblings, because of the unplanned nature of the coma babies. Older siblings are going to be pretty likely to be already adults and have to deal with their own coma babies. There are going to be an awful lot of same age nieces and nephews for the coma children.

As always, I think you're continuing to operate under the strange assumption that every woman of child-bearing age will be at all near to being prepared to have children. Nuclear families these aren't.

I'm aware they'll be a lot of teenage mothers, babies being handed over to the foster system, single mothers, ecetera. And what might be affected if all the kids powers turned on in their sleep on the same night?

Depends on what the powers are, doesn't it?

Pretty much every entry in the stock superpowers entry is represented. And like I said earlier they all fly.

That doesn't answer the question. So I'm gonna say the world blows up and everyone dies.

So if the Govermant isolated the kid's from society for a while to study them how could they be humane about it?

Just treat it as some kind of summer camp or something. Every day there might be measurements or tests before lunch but if you treat that as normal the kids won't necessarily pick up that it's weird. Give them little rewards like stickers or something for being cooperative.

When I was a kid I participated in some kind of study where they weighed us several times a day at summer camp, but to this day I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish. The kids just lined up outside the weighing room and chatted normally every day as part of our routine.

So think the link would create interesting group dynamics?

So how might the comic book industry react to the sudden existence of super people?

they'd make people who are more super. or they would study them and apply that to the comic

So what would be likely responses from the Left and Right wings?

Right wing seems to me to be made up mostly of two kinds of people - business guys who just want profit, and religious/moral types. The first group would want to exploit the kids for their own gain, the second group might think the kids were sent by God or the Devil (or divide into factions for both views).

Left wing people would probably be concerned about providing support to these kids and their mothers, and fighting prejudice against them. Plus scientifically analyzing where these kids actually came from, since scientists usually fall left-of-center.

Oh, and environmentalists would blame pollution for this.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Greens blaiming pollution on the kids could spawn an in universe meme. "Pollute, your kids will fly!" and any issues all the kids being able to fly could cause?

Well, it would be hard for adults to catch them if they want to run off.

Well it happend in a small town so I doubt any of the mothers were famous. Although I could imagine a lot of the mothers being offered book deals.
