"YOU FUCKING BITCH!" *SLAP*

One of the worst case scenarios

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

Best case scenario? And so any thoughts on reactions from the kid's families when they come into their powers?

So how might the kid's themselves react to superpowers?

Yes, I can imagine that the mothers would probably form support groups. As for the mothers' love interests, views would range from considering it a miracle to resentment of both child and mother.

As for how the kids would react? Again, that'd vary. Some would just think of it as a fun new talent as opposed to a "superpower" per se, others would be absolutely terrified by the implications, and it would inevitably go to a few heads.

but they'r mentally linked so they would probably all have the same reaction in fact there could be a sort of hive mind [down][down] i was talking about the kids

Mothers don't already?

Then how do they always seem to know who's up to trouble?

[up]The kid's have a hive mind, not the mothers. Although it's more of a link; the kid's are indviduals it's just they can sense and communicate with each other.

If they're individuals, the telepathic link does not necessarily equal marching in lockstep. Hell, they might use it to bicker with each other as much as anything else.

Think there'd be issues with with schooling?

The school system would be overwhelmed. Not enough teachers, not enough classrooms, not enough books, not enough money... Not enough anything. A town small enough to have "every woman of childbearing age" equal only 8000 is not going to be ready for 8000 kids all entering school at the same time.

What kind of attention might the kid's have gotten before their powers manifested? Any nicknames the trash media could give them?

Any stereotypes the media could attach to the kids? Like that they're all emotionless, hive-minded kids who have no love for their families.

Changelings.

Event Freaks.

Event Bastards.

Event Kids (a euphemism).

And yeah, there'd probably be the "emotionless hive mind" stereotype.

Suggested reading, by the way: The Girl with the Silver Eyes, by Willo Davis Roberts, and the Psi Patrol trilogy (if you can get your hands on them).

Any stereotypes the mothers might attain? There may be a stereotype of spouses of the mothers as abusive.

If their spouses get the stereotype of being abusive people might start thinking that the mothers are poor, beaten, doormat wives and this may make some of the mothers very angry, especially the strong ones.

Would you buy their being a "all blackout mothers are neglectful" sterotype?

How many mothers are there suppose to be exactly, if it's a few hundred ok, if it's a few thousand it would be a bit hard to swallow

Eight thousand. And you know how the picture of the girl with napalm scars become kind of a symbol of the Vietnam war? Does this sound like a good in universe equivelent for the Blackout Babies? A teary eyed little boy in a homemade superhero outfit, standing in front of a heavily water damaged building.

I really like that idea. It could be tossed around by haters a supporters alike for all kinds of reason and it would cause great trouble for the kid in the photo, who I'm assuming is the main character.

Yes the boy in the costume is the main character. And all the kid's can fly by the way.
