Topic for consideration: the recent and upcoming movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Do they have significant elements of Deconstructionism or Reconstructionism to them? Or both?

Iron Man strikes me as fairly reconstructive, but I haven't seen enough of them to say for sure.

I'd say they are mostly reconstructive. They take comic book tropes that people say don't work on the main screen, and then make them work. At no point can I remember them doing anything to point out the absurdity of the tropes.

I doubt that you can do either one unintentionally, so unless one of the involved people actually said something in this direction, I would say it is neither.

I'd say "neither." For the most part, the movies just play things straight while updating certain aspects for the modern era. A lot of the things in Iron Man, say, that look like they might be deconstructions or reconstructions were actually there from the beginning. Like, e.g., Tony Stark having to deal with Senate hearings, losing defense contracts, and the like - that stuff was all there in the Silver Age, though not in precisely the same way.

[up]That. I think people are just thinking too hard. They're meant to be popcorn flicks anyway.
