But it doesn't look automatically enough like an element and not like just stylized simplified armour without it.

First one is decent, but the Toph stuff is clearer and it looks more like rock after.

Stylized simplified armour? I didn't know about the show, yet I clearly got it was an armor, made of stone.

It doesn't look stone to me. It looks like badly drawn spikey armour done by an animator to lazy to do shine. The rest of the lazy animation shortcuts give that impression, especially with the low quality backgrounds.

I'm wondering, if I were to try to get one good picture of Risho (two-frames or otherwise), which picture/pictures to use between the 6 I posted.

Some of you said you got that it was rock armor as soon as you saw it, others said you needed to see him forming it, others said you needed to see it clinging to his body.

I'd say the last two frames + my preferred pic, provided that you could get a better shot of the second frame, where he doesn't hide his face in his hands.

[up][up] It's a weird rotating shot, so this is probably the best I could get with his face visible.

The first one is slightly better.

First one's expression makes it look like he's being attacked.

Both of those look like he's being attacked.

Wouldn't help look for a element that is not Earth? It would help to make the trope clearer.

Not too many elements are that good at making solid armor. Fire tends to hurt, water slides right off, and wind's just air.

Wood might work nicely, and fire armour looks awesome. Ignore the practical. Worry about clear.

It can still work with earth, like the Toph picture (which needs to be shrunk though).

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

Would you say this counted as armor?

[1][2][3]

I think it works out of context...

Then again, you can't really tell it's water and not Ki or somesuch.

Yeah, I've seen the show, and I wasn't even sure what was happening in the first two. The third might work, but I'm kinda meh on it.

I prefer Toph over Risho. Sure, Risho works, but Toph is simply clearer, and therefore better.

If this page ever gets an Image Links, definitely put it there.

I think the original long pan Risho one could work on its own. It's obviously not his skin, and it looks too jagged to be armor you'd just toss on. It looks very...well, rock-ish. And it only requires one frame.

SalFishFin Since: Jan, 2001
#48: Apr 12th 2011 at 7:22:14 PM

"It's obviously not his skin,"

Okay, but I could interpret that as regular armor or a Super Mode or a variety of things. Furthermore, the images you have of him "making" the armor look like he's being attacked.

#49: Apr 12th 2011 at 8:07:46 PM

Then we wouldn't use those.

I didn't intend for all of those images to be used; I just brought them up because people wanted to see alternate angles/frames to get the best shot possible.

The problem is, that none of them clearly show the trope. They don't show something that isn't obviously not normal armour, and the creation ones don't look like creation. They aren't good images. None of the Risho are good images.
