I guess the question is, is he dead or just in a state that Mistress can torture him in a different way than plain ol' pain?

I think we can safely assume dead, since the sign is back out and stuff.

Kinda sucks. I generally don't like watching a Butt-Monkey get killed off without getting some sort of retribution (One of the several reasons I quit watching Family Guy.)

If there's any comic that would do it, it's this one, but I'd still put down money saying that we'll be seeing Ivan again.

Given the setting, he could come back as a spirit. If so, let's hope he has more luck this time around.

Yeah. We got the rules for it a few pages ago; apparently its curse is broken by returning it to the person that originally picked it up (i.e. Ivan). So the curse is broken, but we don't know exactly what that entails just yet.

And the Lizard needs to be taken into account, as well.

It seems like the lizards was in denial. Like when you accidentally helped your friend OD at the party and you keep saying its going to be okay up to the point they stopped twitching than reality sets in so you dispose the body at... Where was I going with this again?

The Mistress will now assume the role of the villain instead of just an antagonist and Ivan, some way, some how, will manage to escape, spirit form or otherwise (resulting in kinky ghost sex down the line), and find Oglaf. Working together, they will fulfill Oglaf's destiny and save the world from the Mistress. And it'll be hilarious along the way.

Okay, so maybe Oglaf will never be important to the story ever.

Erm, well, more of a direct villain than just one that's sitting about and generally being evilish.

Th-they can't kill Ivan off! He's the closest thing to a main character this comic has! D:

He's either not dead, or we're going to find out the significance of those bite marks. Bite marks that are most likely vampiric in origin.

Well, that or he's plain dead, in which case I'll admit the author totally got me.

Are you talking about that weird mark on his chest, or something different?

The apprentice has several bite marks from when he and the fanged girl\*... ftanged. On his chest and leg.

\*A fanged girl with fanged friends who were in search of a virgin to be strung up over a tub. Them being some sort of vampire isn't that wild a guess, I think.

We don't know yet, he's just comatose...the way this comic goes, there's no telling what could happen.

I've got my money on the next apprentice being so terrible that the Sorceress decides to pull Ivan out of his coma.
