Humans have domesticated larger cats than we currently do in the past. Caracals, for example, which are roughly dog-sized, have been used as hunting animals in some Asian and Arabic cultures.

It depends on what level of domesticated you want, I guess.

[up][up][up] Have you heard of the durian?

I need a couple gods/mythological beings from various mythologies that could be re-imagined as angels.

[up] I don't know any, maybe that's why they are less well known fruits.

  • Starfruit
  • Dragon fruit
  • Buddha's hands
  • Yuzu
  • Breadfruit
  • Horned melon
  • Cherimoya
  • Jackfruit
  • Rambutan
  • Lychee
  • Mangosteen
  • Kumquat

I found all of these (with the exception of yuzu, which I knew from Bleach) by Googling 'rare fruits'.

[up][up] Lol! Most of those are fruits I eat on a daily basis. Guess it depends which part of the world you live in.

Most of those are rare in the US outside of haute cuisine and specialty grocery stores.

Question about personality traits: I have a princess character who's basically not allowed much in the way of freedom. The time period is an age where there is a more modern view of gender equality, if that helps a little.

Her father tends to restrict her to the castle and it's grounds (he's paranoid about his old enemies going after his family), and she gets only a few public appearances at political events. She is second in line to the throne after her older brother, who is being groomed to become king. She is jealous of the freedom and respect from the public he gets compared to her, but keeps it to herself. The only times she's able to get outside the gates is if she sneaks out or has a ridiculously heavy guard. She does have her own, slightly romanticized veiw of the world via reading lots of books and reports, so she's not completely ignorant of how things work in regular society.

What sort of personality traits would a 15 year old girl form from that kind of experience?

This may sound weird, but does anyone know how much a radio tower weighs? Like, just an average radio or cell tower.

Total? I'd be expect something in the 1-to-5 ton range. They're not light, just barely stable. And latticework is surprisingly difficult to destroy with anything that doesn't hit it directly.

I'm more talking about the kind of stuff that'd see commercial use. Not the kind of stuff people can buy on their own. What's the smallest a big radio tower (upwards of 100m tall) can be? 40 tons? 100 tons? And yes, I'm aware that's an oxymoron.

Far less than that. I'd be surprised if any aerial mast like that broke 25-ish, which was the weight of the largest Chain Home aerials in early World War 2.

They're big, but they're not solid, and metal's expensive stuff in bulk. There are good reasons to build them light.

@Scorpio: I would guess that she develops a rebellious streak, but kept hidden (depending on how severe the consequences of getting busted are, or how much she (dis)respects her father's opinion). She might sneak out in disguise, and do whatever it is that she does under a different name.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

How can you create a character who is a Complete Monster, while still making him an actual character, instead of just a genocidal animal who cackles at every evil deed he commits?

Well, giving him an unsymphatetic motive for one thing.

No, the point of a Complete Monster is not to be one-dimensional. The point of a Complete Monster is to make him utterly unsympathetic.
