Here, have some Mind Screw, brought to you by The Omega Virus.
Djent bands are losing members left and right. Elitist lost their vocalist, Monuments lost TWO vocalists, Cyclamen lost everyone EXCEPT the vocalist... stable lineups evidently aren't a big thing in this scene.
Pity about Dan Thompkins; he was one of Tesseract's defining features. His replacement (Elliot Coleman formerly of Sky Eats Airplane) is a great vocalist, but IMO just does not have the right voice for the band.

He has already large eyes, made to look larger via those contacts.
And listening to Periphery right now, 'tis awesome.

The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well. So, I just downloaded a leak of the new Animals as Leaders album, because I am a terrible person.
This shit is so good.
Like, seriously.
so fucking good
Ecstasy is Sustained IntensityFrom what I gather, it means 'I am a braindead fanboy latching onto a word whose actual significance means nothing to me because I derive some kind of inexplicable entertainment from it'. So I'd suggest only using it ironically (which I'm sure you're already doing), that way you can get away with saying it but avoid looking like a typical bad-pun-obsessed djent-tard.
Masstaden is sounding cool though (I need to hear Traces with vocals, that song is the shizz). Same with the AAL album.
Wow, found some GREAT bands here, thanks, guys. Has anyone heard Februus by Uneven Structure yet? They're really awesome too. Also, is there something like RXYZYXR? (Some math metal madness with Thordendal-like spacey solos?) (Gratuitous English off)
Barretto's definitely grown on me as a vocalist. This band took longer to for me to like than his other band Friend For A Foe, and I still think they're a little on the wanky side (and it's rare for me to make that criticism), but hot DAMN is 'Screen Scenarios' a tune. The band are generally at their best when they're being a bit more straightforward, or when they're doing the full-on jazz parts with piano and sax.
The full-length is sounding pretty good so far.
Every time I see this thread I want to hear a Djent version of the Gentlementlemen song.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I checked out a Skyharbor song from Basick's SC, and damn, it's amazing. Glad to see Dan Tompkins is still singing after quitting Tesserac T.
There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!Meshuggah is going on a UK tour with Animals As Leaders as support.
Might try and make the Manchester one.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Still have no idea how I missed the new Chimp Spanner song.
This thread needs more thall:

I like pie.

Nah, six-strings are fine - I use a six-string, so do Veil Of Maya, Cyclamen, Aliases, and a variety of other acts acclaimed in the djent/tech metal community. Hell, plenty of Periphery songs are six-string pieces, like All New Materials, Jetpacks Was Yes, even Frak The Gods.
Now for some tunage
Wasn't originally a fan of this band, their EP has some pretty monotonous stuff on it, but this track and the beautiful instrumental outro Gateways are class.
