Ahahahahaaa, finally someone figured out where it comes from! And yeah, those two riffs have similar tonal progression, though the overall feel is very different.
@Shinsworth: A fellow who's heard Senjyu! That is a fantastic album, Cyclamen are definitely among my favourite djent bands and said album is on par with Periphery's debut IMHO.

Can't say that I've listened to Periphery, but I did indeed enjoy Senjyu. Facebook had been advertising them at me for a while, so I eventually checked them out and was pleased by the eclectic, rhythmic metalcore style. Perhaps I should check out a bit more mathcore... But that's for another topic. =P
Currently listening to Animals as Leaders and... wow. First song has me very impressed. I'm not usually into all-instrumental music since I find that it can degenerate into aimless self-indulgence (don't get me wrong, I love instrumental stuff, just not really into instrumental bands, i.e. Scale the Summit) so when an instrumental band comes along and convinces me like that, I know it's something special.
There's several. There's also one where they're replaced with AXE-Fxes (an AXE-FX being a box of awesome guitar tones that the djenters have embraced).
And bad djent puns are widespread among the community. Hell, there's even a band called 'Dilidjent'.

Djent... I'm quite divided when it comes to djent. I'm not really a fan of the playing style overall, but some djent bands are so good that they can make up for it by being awesome. Favorite bands include Periphery, Meshuggah, Textures and Haunted Shores.
Not sure if it fits on the genre, but The Contortionist is even more incredible.
Oh shit, the virus is spreading! DAMN YOU AS THE ANOINTED! On another note, listened to TesseracT's One on the way back from school. It was pretty good, but I think I need to listen to it a few more times to fully appreciate it.

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.For some reason I just find myself unable to enjoy Tesserac T. I tried, I swear.
No regret shall pass over the threshold!

Hey, anyone else noticing the intro from "Letter Experiment" sounds kind of like the verse riff from "I, Voyager" by Nevermore (aka that song with Annointed's name in the lyrics)?
There are snakes in the grass, so we'd better go hunting!
