JAFAAC: Heroic Sacrifice

The picture shows neither heroic nor sacrifice. It doesn't even show any danger.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...

It's not completely devoid of any "sacrifice" feel, but it's bad. I tried GIS-Fu, no luck so far.

There's probably a wide variety of potential images for this. For now, I'd suggest something from this video; namely, starting with the panel 1:51, followed by the next 3 panels. (Well, if there could be a panel arrangement by which they could be shrunk and rearranged to be both readable and within TV Tropes width limit. First I'd want to know if it'd be a good image otherwise.)

EDIT: Or alternatively, this. (Namely, the part starting at 6 minutes and 25 seconds in, which combines it with Im Taking You With Me on the part of another character; interesting way of contrasting personalities, to say the very least.)

I don't think you need that much panels, but I'm not sure. The first two would be fine, but the one by 2:11 really fits the "heroic" part.

That's the thing about the first video; it has one character doing a Heroic Sacrifice to keep the other from heroically sacrificing himself. Each tries to save the other at the expense of themselves, but the alien "wins" because he has a stinger.

Oh, you added another. What about the panels shown at 6:35?

Here it is. Too wide, however—needs to rearrange the placements somehow.

I'd argue that this should be devoid of a picture, as it's a death trope and any picture would be a Visual Spoiler.

Well The Star Trek 2 pic is so into the It Was His Sled at this point. It was even in the trailers for the movie and the next movie.

We could go with the Funeral aspect?

I don't think it's necessarily a spoiler, although the restriction does make it harder to picture. A Heroic Sacrifice taken from a one-shot strip or a Discussed Trope shouldn't count as spoiler.

Still preferring neo's suggestion.

Plasma Stream, while more touching, isn't clear on whether she will die during the feat.

[up]Are you sure that's the right link? This has nothing to do with this trope that I can tell.

What about The Iron Giant's Heroic Sacrifice? It's been a while since I watched the movie (and I'm not really sure how much of it I saw) but that's a pretty classic Heroic Sacrifice.

Would be spoileriffic in my book, but perhaps we should see the picture first.

Well, it is not as easily picturable as I would have thought, but here is one suggestion of mine...

Illustrative, but not the kind of thing that should be spoiled.

Not that I can really tell what's going on, (so I'm not in favor of the picture), but...ummm arguably, aren't alot of examples in this trope, well...spoilers, considering it does deal with death?

[up] What picture was there before? Because I was just thinking when Piccolo stood in front of Gohan, to protect him, dying in the process would be a good picture.

Ok went through the edit history, it is EXACTLY the picture I'm thinking about, problem is that picture wasn't very good because it was a black and white one, so it was hard to tell what was going on. If we can find a picture of Piccolo protected Gohan in color I think that might be more beneficial.
