Considering that the Zipang manga was picked up by a new group recently and they seem to be doing a pretty good job at it, I thought we could use a thread like this.

So yeah. Kaiji Kawaguchi is a senior political seinen mangaka whose works mostly involve US-Japan relations. He's apparently got a bit of a habit of drawing the same story over and over again (The Silent Service and Zipang are both about an idealist bishounen who seeks to change the world and a rugged traditionalist chasing him), but they're all very very good.

They're also all pretty much out of print or not even scanlated so I imagine his stuff doesn't open up to a lot of people, but what the hey. Here's to hoping we'll get some sort of discussion.

Please be gentle with me.

Hm.. I was somehow disappointed by Zipang, though I finished it and liked some parts of it quite well...

The manga Aircraft Carrier Ibuki is scheduled to have a live-action movie. I've read some of it, quite exciting if you don't mind the political climate in it.

He's also doing Sagara -The S Allotrope-. Seems to be made like a spy thriller.
