I literally have no genre/category preferences, and I like pretty much everything, although with a huge tilt towards Barenaked Ladies, Morphine, and to a lesser extent, Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel. That said, I usually don't care a whole lot for top 40 style pop. However,

Katy Perry. I think she's crap overall and, as a lesbian, that Ur So Gay one is kindof offensive. But it's really, really catchy.

And I'm a little shocked that I don't hate Lady Gaga.

I do like soundtrack songs, even though I mostly listen to R&B and rap, which tends not to be in soundtracks.

I normally don't listen to peppy, upbeat, electronic music, but somehow got completely hooked on Eurobeat Brony.

I don't like the genre, I hate Ke$ha, but "Dirty Picture" is an awesome song. It's the synth riff.

Rihanna though I'm not sure how much of it is her actual music and how much is Perverse Sexuel Lust.

I am very accepting of all music and listen to more or less every genre, but my preference is classic rock (especially The Beatles, The Who, Simon And Garfunkel, Electric Light Orchestra, and They Might Be Giants—the latter admittedly being alternative rock and not classified as classic rock in the technical sense of the term).

So why is it that I've recently gained an obsession with Kanye West?

I hate Kanye West, and I'm not a fan of rap at all, but I love "POWER".

That notion isn't at all unique, I must add.

I like to say that I'm into most genres, but I usually listen to hard rock and heavy metal from the 50s to the early 90s, as well as 80s pop and hip-hop. I'm not into the kind of pop and hip-hop that's been on the radio for the past decade or so.

That said, I enjoy "Party Rock Anthem" for some bizarre reason.

I also like the aforementioned "Power," but I find that more understandable, since I tend to like rapping accompanied by epic-sounding instrumentation.

I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...

I despise Brostep but my fondness for Nu Metal means I really like "Narcistic Cannibal" by Korn and Skrillex.

Edit: Dubstep has been changed to Brostep.

Snuff by Slipknot. Way, WAY out of my usual punk tastes.

La Roux's "Bulletproof".

Like... it's so damn catchy. It's also waaaaaaay outside of my pop-punk and post-hardcore stuff.

As someone who listens to mostly rap and hard rock, I have accrued a few of these:

  • The Weeknd. Has a lot of things that would ordinarily turn me off(R&B, softer voice, slower-paced, affiliated with Drake), but the dude can really sing and has some amazing production.
  • Armenian traditional music, especially when it incorporates duduk. Until recently, the closest thing to my people's traditional music I listened to was SystemOfADown, but it's been inspiring me to learn more of the language, so I'm happy I started listening to it.
  • Utada Hikaru. I blame Kingdom Hearts for this one, but she really is a spectacular singer in both Japanese and English.
  • This freaking song by Lykke Li and Kleerup. Major Ear Worm:
