So, remember how I said I was translating "Tabi no Tochuu" a while back? Well, I finally got back to it and did one better: I made a sing-along translation! You can check the video description for both a singing guide and my literal translation.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Thank you very much!
Honestly, I thought the last line that I added was a little much but I couldn't think of anything else and the rest of the song was already that gushy so... yeah.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! This weekend I've been having a bit of a binge watch of this and Magical Girl, and as of right now I'm on episode 8 of season twa.
I like it. It really keeps me thinking and the story is very intriguing!
I decided to hop over here to the experts and ask a question
In season one, I think it was episode 11? Holo meets that giant wolf in the forest. Super curious, was he/she a 'god' too?
Yes, I do believe, but much younger than Holo and not from Yoitsu. There are quite a few shapeshifters running about under the radar. That other giant wolf is also completely unimportant since even the light novel completely forgets about them the moment that scene is over.
For the record, the anime version of the cloak scene is better but the LN version of Lawrence's interrogation at the end is better (since it actually involves Holo) as is the scene where he comes back to the inn after striking Holo (since it actually explains what the hell happened).
Seriously, the LNs are excellent.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! The anime actually reveals a little something something about that. You're still in the first arc of Season 2, yes? Wait a bit. Also, the opening of the second arc is literally the best thing ever.
They are but Yen Press has been translating them for the past few years.
I think they're release 2 a year or something. They're on Volume 14 with Volume 15 coming later this year.
I've only read the first two volumes. If I had the money, I'd buy every single one they have out right now. This series needs all the love it can get.
Seriously, it's still the greatest love story I have encountered in fiction. And in real life, for that matter.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Why would Hasekura Isuna be unhappy about what is one of the most faithful anime adaptions I have ever seen? I mean, seriously, I'm pretty sure they completely lifted lines of dialog for it.
What Arha said is (unsurprisingly) likely to be the case. The LNs did phenomenally but the anime apparently didn't. Despite the awesome art, awesome music, awesome voice actors, and being perfectly faithful.
How did it fail to turn a profit?

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! What, you can't hear their voices when reading? I could hear J. Micheal Tatum and Brina Palencia when I read it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Let me rephrase the question:
How did it fail to be a wild success? If shit like the Twilight Saga can become a wild success, why not a work that I can't even name in the same sentence as it? This series taught me a way to write a good romance and how to keep a romance interesting to the readers without relying on adorable scenes. This is the standard to which I compare all other romances (and some have come close but not can completely compare. Closest one is Keiichi and Belldandy).

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Sometimes, things just don't become as popular as the quality may suggest. And sometimes, things just become insanely popular despite being some half-assed hack job. Quality doesn't have as much to do with popularity and success as it probably should.
And it's a shame when it comes to this one.
Check out my fanfiction!I suppose Spice and Wolf is rather understated but its still absolutely spectacular.
I also find it strange since the instal base should have been fairly large. I mean, the first LN even won a rather major award.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Personally I prefer the fan translations, since they use a bit more informal dialogue, and to me at least the official ones feel a bit stiff.
I need to get back to the series, stopped around volume 12.
Still sucks the anime stops where it does, Eve's backstory would have made for a great Day in the Limelight episode.
... You know that they use formal dialog for a reason, right?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Sure do. Well, it's not like it devolves into California slang, it's just slightly less clunky to me. The oldish dialogue's still maintained. I'm really glad neither the translations nor dub attempted narmy too antiquated speech. Taking out contractions and going for modern but more impartial vocabulary strikes a good balance.
I watched Spice & Wolf dubbed and I thought that it was translated really well. Holo's lines in particular were excellent (including anime's best potato-centric outburst) although I won't pretend that Brina Palencia didn't help.
I'd love to see a season 3, especially considering how season 2 ended, but somehow I just don't see it happening.
"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost."Probably because it's been quite a long time since Season 2.
I do believe we don't actually get Holo's response to Lawrence's confession until quite a while later in the LN.
Of course, on the bright side, the anime ending right before the introduction of Cole who I may or may not end up hating.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

True, it is a pretty tense arc, so it does make sense they'd go with the lighter start of volume five.
It's not entirely stand-alone, they do find the priest's books on gods they were looking for, Holo gets mentioned in a legend in the fur trading town which explains why they go there in the first place, and find there's little hope of finding anything left of Yoitsu .
