Do you really think that a dinosaur is flying a fighter jet because they the cartoonist doesn't know any better?
Do you really think that a movie that uses Shakespeare's original dialogue and plot for A Midsummer Night's Dream word for word, but has the setting and costuming reflect 19th century, are doing this because they are ignorant of history?
Word of God told us they were making A Knights Tale anachronistic on purpose, and even if you didn't have that, having the fans at a joust sing "We will rock you" is a pretty big tipoff.

bad idea for similar things to have similar names; that encourages misuse as people forget which is which.

sounds easy at the extremes, but what about when the anachronism is 5 years off? Is it intentional or accidental?
You know, it looks like part of what I'm looking for is in Purely Aesthetic Era, a sadly neglected trope. That doesn't quite do the "dinosaurs in jets" thing, but it does cover stuff like A Knights Tale.

One common thing is that the classical fullplate armours tend to show up earlier than they did IRL. It can often be simple mistakes, but also because they look cooler. Often, there's really no way to tell if it's intentional or not.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. The description for Anachronism Stew needs to tone down the negative Did Not Do The Research aspect and include the fact that sometimes these are intentional for the sake of artistic licence, Rule of Cool, Rule of Funny, etc.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.

How do you draw the limit between intentional and unintentional?
