I remember this
being linked, but few actually discussed it. So lets discuss it a bit more. It's the Reddit post that's supposedly clearing up the issues with the XBONE.
The original argument was that X-Box is banking on uneducated consumers to fuel their console sales. The information in that article was that they think the response may be a Vocal Minority and that people will love the console when they actually have it. The complexity of the new gaming system means that uneducated consumers is actually a BAD thing because they don't know what they are getting. "Come to your own conclusion" is really only based on if you think it's a good idea in the first place, not when it comes to that interpretation.
As for that Reddit article, it is certainly a better explanation of what to expect than all of the reveals and E3 had to say.
EDIT: At Corr- if you were meaning that people don't know all the features of what they are buying in general then I would agree with you, but that is certainly not something unique to the X-Box One. I wonder how many people will utilize all this new "Smart Glass" tech, probably only the people who MUST have all the best toys.

MS looks to be banking on two things: clueless casuals and brand loyalty. Banking on the uninformed masses could bite them in the ass, since all they would have to do is look at the price point to know which one to get. All the NFL and CBS deals in the world can't make a console more expensive than it's competitors look appealing. As for brand loyalty, all MS needs to do is look at the PS 3 sales compared to the PS 2 to know that brand loyalty means dick all (unless you're Ninty).
Every obstacle a console manufacturer sets up to people enjoying its product will cost the manufacturer sales.
Obstacles:
1)$100 extra cost compared to PS 3 (fuggedabout Ninnie U) 2)Daily internet DRM inspection/update 3)Restrictions on which friends/how long you've known them you can 'lend' games to 4)Impediment to used game sales
One aspect of the last two obstacles I do not often see discussed is the effect used games sales (and loaners) can have on later franchise sequels sales.
Case in point: I got a used copy of AC 2, enjoyed it, bought AC 3 day one. Borrowed Go W 1 and 2 from friend, bought Go W 3 and 4 on Day One. Got arkham asylum from gamefly...purchased Arkham City on amazon sale. Purchased used Co DMW 2...bought all dlc maps to play with Thursday night beer crew.
I could go on. If the 360 worked off a similar model of DRM as the Bone I would have given Xbox publishers less money because it would been more difficult for me to have first encountered those franchises.

XCOM: One does not simply "shoot" a Chryssalid
Does the thing about using Cloud processing to improve the performance of Xbone games count? That seems a bit dubious to me, though, considering they have now stated that your games will still run once the servers are taken down at the end of the Xbone's life.
Unless it was simply meant to improve a game's game's from 30fps to 60fps, but I think I would rather have a constant 30fps than 60fps with possible lag. But yeah. I'm skeptical about the Cloud processing idea as a whole.
@STH, two pages back: Well, I guess I should clarify that seven years ago I was around 12-13. And I remember being a clueless idiot around that time frame. But otherwise, yeah, I guess you're right.
They have been pretty vague about that, haven't they? Only thing I can think of is it having something to do with DLC.

In that original quote I linked, they discuss the reaction to more unpopular features on the X Box One. Instead of them saying "People will love it once they have it" or "People are really misunderstanding those points" they say "Well, people don't really look at the details".
Yes, the overall gist of the article is that people will love the X Box One when they actually own one. But that's not the context of that quote.
Correct, but it is a leap to say that is what they are banking on for sales. They knew a lot of people would get up in arms over the details surrounding used games and rentals but are anticipating the positives outweighing the negatives. It's one thing for a company to state facts and another to claim it as the business model.
But whatever, this argument is going in circles.
You know, there's one thing the 21 countries thing has done that will cause some problems. With the 360, Microsoft tried to get the jRPG gamers on board by getting 5 games on their console. It sort of worked but then fell apart because they failed to back it up.
With the Xbox One, Microsoft is completely removing any incentive Japanese companies have to develop for them. Atlus, Marvelous, Image Epoch, Idea Factory, Nippon Ichi and so on, they have absolutely no reason to develop for the Xbox, when they get around to the next generation anyway. Hell, Nippon Ichi has announced they are working on PS 4 games already.
(granted, most of them have no indication of working on the PS 4 either, instead looking at the Vita and the PS 3, or the 3DS)

Well, damn.
Heh, sad for the Xbox, especially if they get into legal trouble if they disobey the bill if it passes.
Watch Symphogear
Right, I forgot the government is Bipartisan... wait, is that the right definition for "there's multiple sides in this government?"
The article said this was a 2012 bill, though, and PRISM only came to light recently.
EDIT: Sorry, a bill drafted in 2012. It hasn't gotten anywhere near a vote yet, I think.
